It is not a huge surprise that Arizona received a Letter of Intent from Khari McGee, but it wasn't expected either.
QB/Athlete Khari McGee
McGee, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound, quarterback/athlete from Stockton, CA/Edison High School signed with Arizona Wednesday morning, ending speculation about how exactly he felt about Arizona and how Arizona felt about McGee.
"Y'all bring something to the table that fits exactly what I want to run," McGee told UA coaches during the school's Signing Day Google+ Hangout.
Arizona had been on McGee for some time, but as they received verbal commitments from Anu Solomon, Tommy Woodson and Brandon Cox, their pursuit of McGee died down. It began to pick up again after Cox de-committed for Utah and the Cats parted ways with Woodson.
McGee visited Tucson a few weeks back, but it was still unclear just how he fit into Arizona's plans. Some sources close to the commitment suggested that Arizona liked McGee, but would not take him unless some spots opened up in the class. The few open spots in the class at that time were reserved for defensive players.
McGee is a versatile player, who seems to prefer to play quarterback, but could also play defensive back or wide receiver.
"A no-doubt prospect on the athletic side," said 247Sports' Barton Simmons over the summer.
McGee tripped to Texas Tech back in October and Oregon State in December.
247Composite has him rated as a three-star prospect with an 0.8241 rating. 247Sports has him with an 85 rating.
