Cats make the cut

Stanley Johnson is a recruiting priority for the Wildcats.

Two 2014 wings the Wildcats are recruiting recently trimmed their recruiting lists and the Wildcats made the cut.

Stanley Johnson announced a top-10 via twitter on Friday. The 6-6 wing out of Mater Dei has cut his list to UNLV, Oregon, San Diego State, NC State, Kentucky, Arizona, Louisville, USC, Syracuse and UCLA.

Johnson is one of, if not the, top target for the Wildcats in the 2014 class. Both his high school and his AAU team (Oakland Soldiers) have many ties to the Wildcats. Arizona greats such as Miles Simon and Reggie Geary played for Gary McKnight and the Monarchs, while current Wildcats Nick Johnson and Brandon Ashley, as well as top 2013 recruit Aaron Gordon, all played for the Soldiers.

Johnson has already made a few unofficial to Tucson and was in attendance for the Red/Blue game.

Johnson is a five-star prospect with and ranked as the 13th best player in the nation by 247Sports. The 247Composite has him rated as the 16th best player in the 2014 class.

Long Beach Poly wing Kameron Chatman also has the Wildcats listed among his favorites. The 6-6 small forward recently moved from Oregon to Southern California. He has narrowed his focus to Arizona, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Michigan, Louisville, Georgetown and UConn.

Chatman is a 247Composite four-star player with a rating of 0.9568. He’s the No.61 prospect in the 2014 class and the No. 17 small forward.
