While the rest of his teammates were in the Bahamas, transfer PG T.J. McConnell went to a similiarly exotic locale…Pittsburgh. As a transfer who has to sit out a year, McConnell went home to the Steel City for several days before the fall semester starts next week…

Pierre Cormier
Matt Korcheck is another transfer who will likely redshirt, but he was eligible to play on the Bahamas trip because his redshirt is voluntary. While the rest of his teammates flew back from Tucson, Korcheck was able to spend a few days in Florida to visit his family there. Although he went to high school in Tucson, his family now lives in Florida…
Arizona’s last two football commits have somewhat unique names. Pierre Cormier (Korm-Yay) sounds more like a right winger for the Montreal Canadians, while Luca Bruno could have been a character on the Godfather…
Arizona will have just one practice on Friday, but will have it mid afternoon instead of early evening. The reason? The team will check into a hotel in an effort to simulate road trip procedures. Rich Rodriguez does not allow hazing of freshmen but does have them conduct a talent show for the rest of the team. Rodriguez said the young guys are taking it seriously but that no one on the team is in danger of being mistaken for the American Idol…
The football team will also change the practice schedule from what Mike Stoops used to do. The team will practice on Sundays, but take Mondays offs…
CBSSports.com conducted an anonymous summer poll of college coaches and Sean Miller was third in the poll “Which coach is best at bending the rules but not breaking them?”
Miller was tied for third on the list with Indiana’s Tom Crean with 8% of the vote. John Calipari and Billy Donovan led the list with 13% and 11% respectively. Former Wildcats assistant Josh Pastner was on the list with 5% of the vote.
Although it is a somewhat dubious award, it wasn’t an indictment, the CBS crew described them as “the savvy guys.”
“When it comes to playing within the boundaries, it's much more than recruiting,” the article continued. “If they try hard enough, coaches can garner slight advantages over their competitors in a guile, fair way.”
CBS also did a poll on the biggest “perceived cheaters” and Calipari and Crean were the only coaches on that list…
No great surprise but one-time football commit Darius Allensworth committed to Cal. Allensworth was among the first recruits to commit but never hid the fact that he was going to keep looking around. Arizona seemed prepared, they took verbals from other cornerbacks after Allensworth “committed...”
Heard an interview with Tommy John and was stunned that he kept referring to rotator cup surgery as "Tommy John Surgery." If it was me, I'd call it "Me Surgery."
