QB position sees a few changes

Although the linebacker position got a lot of attention this week, the quarterback position has some changes as well.

Tyler D'Amore

As reported previously, the Wildcats got their second verbal commitment for the 2013 class in Pensylvania’s Tommy Woodson.

There are also changes to the roster for 2012.

Former Louisiana Tech quarterback Nick Isham has transferred to Arizona and will serve as a walk-on this year. Isham will not be eligible to play until 2013.

He started the first seven games of the season. The 5-10, 185 pounder was 155-257 for 1,457 yards, eight scores and seven picks. He was benched by Sonny Dykes for an upperclassman and actually appeared as a wide receiver late in the season.

Isham is now listed on the Wildcats’ official on-line roster.

Also on the roster is prep walk-on Jack Nykaza from Wilmette, IL. Nykaza amassed nearly 2,000 yards of total offense. He threw for over 1,200 yards and six scores, while rushing for over 700 with nine touchdowns as a senior. He played wide receiver as a junior according to the Tucson Citizen’s Anthony Gimino.

Gone from the roster is former Ironwood Ridge standout Tyler D’Amore. D’Amore walked on after playing last season at a California junior college and went through spring drills with the team. He has transferred back to the JUCO ranks, playing at Pima this fall.
