What is the deal with Rincon Market? I remember telling you guys last year Gary, about me and the wife sitting in there when Book brought in Zeus during his recruiting visit. If I were a recruit, I'd much prefer Guadalajara Grill or be introduced to real Mexican food.

I don't know the specifics, but that's where the team takes the visitors. I remember talking with Gabe when he was on his way to officially report to school and even then he was saying (paraphrasing), "Once I get their we're meeting some of the players at Rincon."

Rincon Market ownership does love the UA Wildcats, but they'd die before they would engage in anything flaky...other than their breads.
Offhand comments can be misconstrued....so a word to the wise.
This new Jefferson of ours is one heckuva player! He is ideal for Sean's system, he is tough and together, he's a good student, he's a great kid. The fact that he's from Chester, PA is icing on this cake, because this helps not only with basketball, but there is a junior at Chester who will be heavily recruited for football too.

Rincon hosts some of the coaches shows. Its a good, reasonably inexpensive place near campus. The recruits get two nice dinners, usually a steakhouse and somewhere else. My dad used to manage McMahon's and the old Rancher's Club and both saw recruits come though for dinner.

I did not mean anything bad was going on at all. Just that they offer certain things that are approved by the S&C guys for them to have and so forth. Not sure to what extent but i have hear there is a relationship. Do they take the CatCards? I know KP was pissed off that Chipotle on Uni waited until his senior year to take the CatCard.

I used to live a block from Rincon Market / Bob Dobbs, and those places earned many of my ducats. I can certainly see why CSM took them there because it's not only good vittles, but more representative of what an undergrad would eat during their time at the UofA than a prime steakhouse.

Very nice work on Jefferson. It appears Miller has truly found his groove on the recruiting trail.
I was always a Sausage Deli kind of guy. Worked there for years. Don't remember too many hoops players coming in. Mostly actors from Young Guns in my day and of course the always welcomed bikini clad coed on their way to the pool.

You guys all make a good point. College is a unique time. Its more than just x's and o's. I grew up thinking I would go to ASU and made several visits. One visit my senior year to Tucson, and two other guys and I changed our minds. I had the time of my life at UofA and love going back even though it hardly resembles what it looked like when I was there. Miller is a great coach and he will be successful, but he has a great advantage in a campus like we have. Not big city and not hidden out in some rural area. Just a great mix. I left right after school and don't remember a single place you guys mentioned, but there was a ton of things to do and great places to go. You guys are describing great memories. I'm always amazed at how many old athletes like to come back from wherever and consider it a highlight as well as a duty. Athletes like Jefferson are getting a bargain and they don't know it yet. I suppose none of you are old enough to remember the Bay Horse and the GRT. Those places were stocked with more than good sandwiches.
