    • I would add that the value of a guy like York, even if his long overused reputation as a shooter sticks that'll actually be fine because defenses will have to stretch and account for his range in the future. Hence, even if he's off for a half, or an entire game no coach is going to allow someone with his shot to just float the perimeter uncovered. My point is having a guy like York on the floor automatically stretches a defense and opens ups more floor space in and around the paint for our bigs.

    • Thx Gary. These breakdowns were very informative. I can't wait to see all of these kids. It is my gut that these 4 guys will contribute quite a bit more as freshmen then our last class did (no offense to them, just a tough yr all around). Combined with the progression of Chol, Johnson and possibly Turner (all have great potential IMO), the return of Parrom and Hill's continued efforts, I believe will result in a very special season next year.

      I know that is a lot to expect out of a freshman class, but hey look what Kentucky just did with 3 starting freshmen and two sophomores. I don't expect that kind of production, but something in the middle of that and what we had last year could certainly result in a nice season.

      When was the last time UA had 3 top 10/5 star recruits and probably the 4th (York) should be a five star too. I think this class is going to start to pay dividends immediately. Just the presence of a big man or two will be a significant game changer for us.

      I especially can't wait to see York. From all that you have written about him over the past year, if he works as hard as you say and has this kind of talent, he may be considered one of our all time special guards by the time he finishes. I can't wait to be back in college bb's elite again. Start saving now, because I see some final four's in our near future.

    • Good post CYCAT, and not because you complimented me.

      I also think next year's class will make an immediate impact, collectively. The big reason is Arizona as a team, young or not, will have "natural fit" athletes at all five positions next season wit backups that also belong in each position.

      As Brad Allis has discussed in articles, last year's team we didn't have a single frontline player playing in the correct position. Worse, our bench was drastically limited and it was just a big season of trying to piece mail together a roster. I'm not dismissing losses because Arizona definitely lost some games they should have won (were the better team), but it's definitely easier when you have true size in the frontcourt and aren't forcing someone like Jesse Perry to play center.

    • York earned MVP honors yesterday evening following the Ball Is Life all-star game in Southern California. Gabe had 22 points, 7 assists, 9 rebounds and 4 steals to take home the hardware. The game was the final high school all-star contest for York.
