Every game matters

Gabe York

Freshman Gabe York

Arizona opens the Diamond Head Classic tonight against ETSU.

    • Gary: Very good writting indeed! thanks for this.

    • Well said. Arizona cannot afford a let up.

I would hope that with Miller's intensity and the competition for time on the court, the team will never get to the point to where they take any opponent for granted.

The team is loaded, but Florida exploited the inexperience of our 3 big Freshman. Not a huge surprise there. But they will get better, and have, even since that game.

I'm sure it will happen, but Arizona will have to play absolutely horribly to lose in conference. Blame me if we lose, I've probably jinxed them.

Arizona's freshmen looked solid tonight. Stats may change slightly but at first glance Ashley, Zeus, Jerrett and York combined for 37 points on 14-of-24 shooting.

Was glad to see so many play tonight, including Max and Hazzard. Shows how intelligent Miller is as a coach, although Lyons drawing his fourth foul with 16 to play helped. 3 games in 4 days means you want to use your bench more liberally than usual and Miller did that tonight with Chol playing more, York getting time in the first half as well as extended minutes in the second, Max getting in with over 4 minutes to play and Hill, Johnson, Lyons and Ashley spending most of the second half on the bench.

    • Although I suspect they may win, San Diego State is trailing Indiana State by 3 with 12 minutes to go. Unfortunately, I need to go and can't watch the rest of the game.

Miami really looks like the better team of the two. I think we need to really "Bear Down", forget the 360's and play some serious ball tonight.

We will certainly go to 3 if we win the tournament. There is so much riding on this game tonight. I am hoping Miller really goes after this game with a seriousness that really challenges these guys to make quality passes, take better quality shots, and control this game for 40 minutes.
