MATT SCOTT NAMED MANNING AWARD STAR
Arizona’s senior quarterback leads the Pac-12 and ranks No. 2 nationally in total offense with 386.1 yards per game.
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, has named eight quarterbacks as its “Stars of the Week”, including Arizona senior Matt Scott. Fans can visit the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page to vote for what they think was the best performance from this past weekend. When voting closes on Thursday at 9 a.m. PT, the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Player of the Week.
Scott accounted for four touchdowns and 469 yards of total offense to spearhead a furious second-half rally in Arizona’s 39-36 upset victory over then-No. 10 USC on Saturday. He completed 27-of-50 passes for 369 yards and three touchdowns, and added a career-best 100 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. He became the first UA quarterback to reach 100 rushing yards in a game since Ortege Jenkins had 104 yards on 11 carries in a 27-24 loss to UCLA in Tucson on Oct. 28, 2000.
Scott’s 469 yards of total offense rank as the fourth‐most in a single game at Arizona and push his career total over the 5,000‐yard mark to 5,022. Scott now has 3,089 yards of total offense this season, which ranks as the No. 3 single‐season total at Arizona. Scott has four games over 400 yards of total offense this season to claim four of the top‐10 spots in program history.
He leads the Pac-12 and ranks No. 2 nationally in total offense with 386.1 yards per game. On the season, he’s totaled 2,724 yards on 227-of-361 attempts with 20 touchdown passes. On the ground, Scott has accumulated 365 yards on 80 attempts with four rushing touchdowns.
Arizona hits the road on Sat., Nov. 3 for a matchup at No. 25 UCLA. The game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff and will air live on the Pac-12 Networks.
