After watching asu.....we will beat them

  • I'll be interested to learn if ASU's win over Missouri proves to be their Arizona win over No. 9 Iowa moment. After last year's win things were looking and feeling good around the program and they rode that momentum and beat the teams they should beat. However, ASU has some serious holes in its game (as did Arizona) and when the going got tough the Iowa victory proved to be a bit of fool's gold for the Cats. I'm wondering if that will prove true for ASU as well.

  • Gary! Dude I just got done burning my UA-Alum-converted-to-Scummie 'friend' on the fact that in three months, this win will mean about as much to them as did ours over Iowa. I mean, huge home crowd/atmosphere, Redout/Blackout, overrated team from the Midwest storms back only to screw it up on a late kick to take the lead, then the home team makes one last push and wins by seven...They're going to look back and say (like we did), "Well.....sh*t."

'Fool's gold;' you hit the nail on the head.

Very well could be. They played better then us..had better unis but, there are some glaring holes in the scheme. Time will tell

  • Look, I'm the guy everyone got bitter at for suggesting that the best thing that could happen to ASU was a plane crash. I hate them and every single win by their football or basketball team stings almost as bad as a loss for Arizona. I almost got killed at the ASU game a few years back and have resigned myself that my mouth should not ever visit the asswipe scum that inhabit the Frank Kush Land Fill during an ASU/UofA game in Tempe. It probably doesn't help that every time I'm on their crap hole of a campus I slap the bust of Frank Kush - I HATE them.

But, starved for college FB, I watched my first game of the year, the ASU - UC Davis game (cheering for Davis, of course).

ASU made virtually no mistakes. Now I have no idea if Davis is better or worse than NAU (they looked faster, but smaller) but when we can't get a play into the huddle or our placeholder can't get the ball down right or our center misses the punter all together, or our starting QB and the only real hope we have for a decent season is still in a long lost game with 53 seconds left... those are not mistakes caused by opposing teams. Even the mistakes that are somewhat influenced by the opposition like false starts or blown coverage in the secondary are still largely our mistakes. WE MADE A TON OF DUMB MISTAKES in the NAU game and ASU made virtually none against UC Davis.

Based on what I saw, they are MUCH, MUCH sharper, executing at a much higher level and just not making any major mistakes. Their QB looks like he will eventually be as good as Foles, their defense was much harder hitting and more sure tackling, they look faster, stronger and sharper on the O-Line. They actually have a running game. So while I HOPE they suck and I have no basis to speculate on how they will fare against anyone else, they were vastly better than we were in each teams respective first games.
