  • I am noticing a pattern emerging here that we are the first to offer on a lot of players now and my perception is that that was not the case in the past.

Is this a function of where the program is at, the operating philosophy of the new staff, pure coincidence, or is it no different than before? Some other reason?

BTW - this kid seems like a winner. If Army offered - his grades and citizenship are excellent. I hate USC but the fact they are his favorite means he appreciates excellence.

  • At first glance this guy reminded me of Dice. Let's get another Dice in the fold.

To add to what Wineknow was saying, Tomey used to look for a particular type of player and didn't care what all the ratings people said. I have a hunch RR may be a little the same way.

Stoops and his staff were first to offer a ton of guys. Stoops was a headcase, though. He was always paranoid that once the Arizona offer went public then all the big schools would then step in and swoop the recruit away from him (which actually happened often). The point is Stoops' staff played recruiting really close to the best while Rodriguez has been incredibly transparent thus far.

  • Coach Rod has initiated a huge number of early offers compared to any time in the past, and on good kids.

Coach Rod is approaching this like a winner, not like a second-rater trying to play catch-up, or "settling" for a lower-tier recruit. The network they have already built amazes me, and at the schools they are in, they have made it plain they intend to stay, with juniors and sophomores being talked to seriously.

I love this approach, and I believe firmly it will pay off.
