Counting The Chickens Before They Hatch

  • OK, I am wondering what the WSR thinks about the level of quality regarding Rich Rod and Company's recruiting efforts thus far?

Seems to me we are going to surpass what Stoops staff would have brought in this year had he been allowed to stay around.

Not that this surprises me in the least.

What I ask for is a breakdown on guys who have said publically they are Wildcats compared to those who we had in our sights about three months ago.

Imo, we have added some nice surprises already and I am expecting more to come.

And let me add that while I think Rich Rod will do very well considering the circumstances this winter, I think that next year we will see recruits that would not have given Arizona the time of day before.

We've got the chickens to produce the necessary eggs for the future!!

I have not heard a single word out of the blackeyeblackeye fans about DT Willie Mobley.
If I'm not mistaken ,he was one of their players?

The "A"rizona Program was attracting HS All-Americans In spite of or because of the previous Staff.
How can you guys act like this is an aberration headslap

I still have a hard time ,getting over the fact in 2011 the Wildcats would have had 3 HS ALL-Americans in it's starting secondary(Golden,Flowers and Hall) That's SEC kind of language

It goes back to which came first, the chicken or the egg? holy

  • I heard a lot of talk when Byrne first announced the hiring of Coach Rodriguez, as well as throughout the process of hiring assistants, that it is crucial to have coaches who are from the West and have recruited there before.

I think we are now seeing that RichRod was absolutely right when he said a good recruiter can recruit anywhere. If anything, I think UofA is benefitting from the fact that all of the coaches are from the East. They have shown that they have the ability to recruit locally in the West, and are also able to use their relationships and familiarity with the East to create pipelines across the country.

What I have seen is the ability to hold a class together and add the East coast ties.
I completely agree with Coach Rodriguez ,"that a good recruiter can recruit anywhere."
It's also true that a good salesman can sell anything( As Seen on TV)

We lost a 5 star recruit in this cycle as a de-commit, The player didn't hesitate to change his commitment.
Some say,he didn't take the time to re-evaluate his commitment, with the new staff.

I'm excited as everyone else with the progress that Coach Rodriguez and his Staff are making on the recuiting trail.
This Staff is already taking its shots at the lil Forkers and everyone else.thumbsup
Now if we can only land or flip a few more in the next coming days holy

  • Before the termination we had 1 4 star TE commit and about 19 3 stars. We now have 1 4 star commit a half dozen 3 star and a half dozen 2 star commits. So far, if you are looking just at stars, we have moved backwards. However, there's a lot of recruiting left.

Now that's some of that ish I've been talking about when it comes to recruiting.

With Davonte Neal's stars and Devin Fuller's stars this would be fast rising class.holy

I can't argue with those numbers, but I also can't live strictly on stars. There is a player in this year's class who weren't even evaluated until this month and given 2-stars. So basically since he hasn't been hyped up over the past year he doesn't get more stars.

I would argue that there are also a handful of players in this class who could easily be projected to out-perform their star rating (Kyle Kelley), not to mention that all of the current commits seem to fit the mold of the new offensive and defensive systems very well.

What I'm really getting at is that at this point I think this class is a lot better than it's ranking portrays, and with two 4-stars and a 5-star within reach, the rank could quickly catch up to my excitement level. Obviously just personal opinion though.

Easy - The chicken. It takes a Live Rooster and a Live Hen to produce a fertilized egg.
Therefore the chicken came first not the egg. My that was simple.

From all appearance it seems like the recruiting is better this year than any time under Stoops.

Not so fast smart guy. Your Live Rooster and Live Hen were somehow produced without an egg.
Not quite as simple as you've made it appear.

Safe to say, from your perspective recruiting appears to be going better than any time under Stoops.

Let's wait for the final tally before we dimiss or crown a recruiting guru. Time is always on the side of the coach still setting the marks. The proof will be in the final star count.holy
