    I hope so...

  • Neal is going to attend Notre Dame.

  • He'll transfer back and we'll get him as a Soph, Jr, and Senior. If we even want him by then.

I wonder if that might be true. Dad has to sign his paperwork and if dad will not sign for anyone but ND, then the kid either has to wait out dad or give in and transfer later if he still has an interest in doing so. No-one knows what dad said to his son or any threats that may have been made. It is a real shame when parents become so dominant in the recruitment of a child and dictates where they will go to college or play in the NFL...

I hope DaVonte is happy with his decision and that it was his decision. If it was dad, then Luke needs to learn to let his boy grow up and lead his life.

  • Do these comments bring back memories from last year when Davonte signed with Notre Dame?

  • Wow. Frickin Nostradamus over here. Nice.

That's an understatement. Nostradamus was vague and usually wrong. He has nothing on you.

You made the right prediction 14 months ago. Hopefully, the gamble will pay off either this season if he's eligible to play or next season. He has as much talent and potential as anyone on our team with the exception of Kadeem Carey.

  • Nice move Ben!

Now, can you tell us when we are going to the Rose Bowl? Or do I need to scour all these old threads with your posts.

  • I'm surprised to see such little excitement there is about Davonte Neal joining Arizona. I am as excited about him playing football for Arizona as I am with Gordon playing basketball with the Cats. Seems like you guys would be happier to have a 5-star athlete join the team.

Well we are happy just a bit reserved. The fact that his father has slime written all over him has something to do with it. Cam Newton's Father 2.0 type thing. Plus we are not sure if he will even see the field this fall. So until we find out about a hardship transfer we will keep it under control.

This blast-from-the-past post is really bringing back the memories. Something about wineknow and 1tazcat getting mixed up in all of this...

If I recall correctly, Neal, went to Notre Dame for the academics!

I think I asked this question on page 2 or 3 about what degree he really wanted to pursue. I don't think it was baby-making 101 otherwise known as FCS. I could be wrong.

It is what it is and I look forward to what Neal is going to select for his degree. I also look forward if the young man can handle the responsibilities of fatherhood and not necessarily those of his own father.

    We will see.

I agree with what you are saying. However, 5-star players are hard to come by unless you are a USC, Ohio St or Alabama type of program. Rich Rod and Greg Byrne are making a huge difference with program and raising the bar. The more players we can bring in of his caliber the better we will be down the road especially in two falls from now. The QB position will be key this season but we should be better off next season with an experienced QB. I'm hoping the addition of Neal will convince other top players from the valley to consider UofA. Either way he should make an impact with Arizona within the next two seasons.

  • It's a big deal, but he didn't exactly dominate anything at ND so I think the enthusiasm gets tempered a little. Granted very few set the world on fire as true freshman.

Would be nice if he got some immaturity out of the way over the past year. The decision to come back to be close to family and baby definitely speaks to that, so I am hopeful.

Here's to Neal winding up in the right spot for him. Bear Down!

p.s. Whatever happened to M Troll? Loved his enthusiasm.

p.s.2. Nice call Ben. You deserve a spot on one of ESPN'S expert panels for that.
