We have here a giant game of chicken in which one side Penn State is going to die a horrible death. First you have DOE and Congress waiitng to jump in on the Clery act violations dating b ack to at least 2001 if not 1998, They have the power to fine them or shut down all federalaid and their acredation as a University Will this happen? Who knows, I do know that the current BOT at the University wants to apologize to the Patgerno Famiily and reject the Freeh report and of course keep the statue of their God up.

As to the NCAA thier is a clear cut case of lackof institutional control since at least 1998 involving the administration, BOT and the Football King Joe Paterno. In addiiton thereis the other major violation involving the Vicky Triponey matter in which Joe Parterno insisted on special treatment in behavioral discipline issues for his 11 thugs who were involved in a major misstep. Triponey who is still alive and can testify was forced to resign because she though football players should ve treated gthe same as other students and God (King Football) coulld not alllow that. I believe the NCAA has jurisidiction and while I would like DOE to handle the issue itwould be fine with me if they lowered the boom on Penn State DP maybe, five years no bowls and no TV revenues, take half the football proceeds to help vicitims and trials for the other 3 and any BOT members found to be involved would help. Penn State go ahead and keep your statue of a false idol and God. It condemns you in the eyes of most people.

I know this happended evenbefore I was born but look at Universityof Chicago who was a seven time winner of theBig 10 in football and in 1939 atthe peakof there football prwess they closed down the program and now play at D3 where they are competitive but they are still major university of CIKC status and more or less a de facto member of the Big 10 in terms of CIC mebership and AAU status. They have done just fine without King football and look at the Harvards, Yales,Princetons of the world who doominated collegfee football for decades and no longer participate except at a greatly reduced level with no football scholarships and they are the best and richest universities in america. King football is nice for fansbut other things are moreimportant like science and cures for cancer etc.
