  • Names were not given to me though it was hinted that the issues are more with upperclassmen who have gotten comfortable.

  • It's not surprising that change is resisted.

There were probably a lot of buy in to the previous system, and if you were a "top" player in the eyes of the former staff, or had a chance to play, but now are faced with the prospect of having to prove yourself all over again, it is unsettling.

But just like under the old staff, the coaches weren't always right, but they were the coaches.

    Change is tough.

  • I got a sort of confirmation of this from a source of my own totally independent of Brad's. It should not be too hard to pick out the resisters; they are upperclassmen who maybe aren't automatically #1 on the depth chart like they feel they should be.

It was pointed out to me that RichRod was never big on a lot of 4 or 5 star guys at WVU and at the UM it was brand recognition that got the big names they got. So, we should look in our recruiting for a similar approach as WVU in his day,

Yep. Shouldn't be a shocker. I don't know a coaching change in recent memory where there was at least some contention from upperclassmen who were deeply ingrained in the previous system. Time usually heals all, but don't be surprised by some player attrition between May and fall camp in August.

  • What I really want is to hear all the gossip and scandal but I realize Brad and Gary Can't really say anything at risk of alienating their sources. I did find it interesting though that Rich Rod seemed to hand the Defense leadership off to Jake Fisher right from the beginning while stoops seemed to be grooming Adam Hall for that place. I really feel bad for kid that he hurt himself again but I've got the impression he might have been one of the resistors.
