Offense shows flashes, but still has a lot of work to do.

  • We ran fairly effectively, and with some authority. That part was good. The passing was pretty accurate and the receivers brought their soft hands and good positioning with them. The O-line as crippled as it is, at least got in someone's way. Scott was firmly in charge, and several times adjusted positions for other guys. Mostly, he gets it.

On defense, we show confusion, but that's to be expected for the third time in pads. The D-line wasn't much of a force, the LBs were looking to Jake Fischer for example, and he at least is helping motivate. The DBs have new and multiple responsibilities and are going to need many more reps to pick it up.

Over all, while the team was fast, it is about 1/3rd as fast as it will be by late August.

Bottom line is, they are learning, which is what we can expect. Any judgements now, are just anyone's personal eagerness to add their two cents....at the moment it's meaningless to try to evaluate. They're going to have lots of bad days and some decent ones until they get this absorbed and begin to work in unison as a team has to work.
