This is very encouraging especially the potential on the defensive side of the ball.
I may be wrong, but it seemed to me that the one game that could have propelled AZ under Stoops was he double OT game her against Oregon.
Again, someone correct me if my recollection is incorrect, but it seemed that our collective LBs slow afoot and slow to react, and we just couldn't stop their last two drives.

FWIW, Conwell and Kelley are listed as 4 star recruits on other sites. Also, we got a few players that didnt blossom until their senior year which is why they arent rated very high.......allen, cozens, Griffey, Georges to name a few. I think this class is better than it looks and will ultimately pay off on the field. If Harper and Neal sign it will boost our ranking up quite a bit. Rodriguez recruited for need and for the future, the school up north recruited the best players they could find even if they werent necessarily at a position of need and they also recruited a bunch of JC players, that will pay off as immediate fixes but wont bode well for the future. Probably because Graham is already planning his exit strategy.

I feel like every fan at every school accross the country could say the same thing in defense of their school's latest recruiting class. The fact that independent analysts have been able to spend years reviewing players and gauging talent and have decided to put our class in 11th place out of 12 schools is the real issue. Fans will always get excited and fans will always find ways to defend their program... but damn. when the independet analysts are ranking you 11th out of 12... you're bad. you're really, really bad. 11th place sucks. no other way to say it. and by the way... 10th place sucks too.

I just saw ESPN had us ranked #12 in the pac. But again you never knwo with the star system. I played golf with Spencer Larsen this past summer and his comment about it was "I was a 1 star and now i am in the NFL" And like the comment above, Boise St gets the RIGHT players and they win. I would rather have the RIGHT players and win the worry about were we rank with the star system. GO CATS!!!!

I guess that statement is kinda true...
According to 247 sports, the top 6 recruiting classes in the Pac-12 are separated by 37.06 points. The bottom six are separated by 27.5 points. While yes, the there is a larger distance between 1 and 6 than there is between 7 and 12... being 27.5 points out of 7th place tells me that we're really no where near 7th place! Especially when 7th place (the pathetic scum-devils) have been able to sign 5 4-star recruits and the same recruiting service says we're only able to sign 1! I want to win the f*cking Rose Bowl. We really need to start recruiting some frckin' talent! Pisses me off.

Yeah, I guess I just dismissed it b/c as a fan, there's really no way to know who the "right" players are. I'm sure with hind-sight you can look back and say "yeah, that guy was the right guy" but other than that... how in the world do you know if he's the right guy? Obviously a drop-back pro-style QB isn't an ideal fit for a read-option spread offense... but other than with a few exceptions, fans have to rely on the experts to really judge the talent and see how their class stacks up against what other schools are bringing in. And in that regard... we failed miserably. We came in well behind the scummies. That equals failure in my book.

dude. stop with the win/loss stuff already. I was ignoring that because I was hoping you were going to get back on track. I'm talking about our recruiting class being disappointing. Not that fact that we were able to beat them the last few years. I'm talking strictly about this year's recruiting class being such an epic disappointment, and if we want to get to the Rose Bowl, we need to start doing things like the programs that get to the rose bowl (USC, Oregon, Stanford). Those programs recruit a significantly higher level of talent than we recruit. We need to start doing that.

If that were the case why would you compare our recruiting class to ASU? I agree it would be nice to recruit with the likes of Oregon and USC, but that is not a realistic goal in my opinion. We need to recruit like Boise State and Oregon State does and find diamonds in the rough and develop our players better than USC and Oregon. Stop with the Wins/loss stuff?"Dude", thats all that matters at the end of the day. Not where we are ranked in recruiting. I feel like I just had this same conversation with an ASU fan.
