If you go purely by "stars" then this class is below the P12 average. But try to understand that recruiting services are not exact. Harper is an explosive, fast athlete that Oregon was after hard. Capers is the same but was hurt most of his SR year. Allen was upgraded to three stars. Hemmila was a four star, as was Parade AA Kelley, both got graded down to three stars for whatever reason.
The other thing is, we didn't sell out and recruit 8 JC's. We don't have major holes in or depth chart like asu does after graduating 30 guys. In two years asu is going to have to hit the JC's again.

I think it was actually 9 but who's counting. In 2 years Graham will be at his next dream job, so for him it makes sense to get as many JC's(quick fixes) as possible to make him look like a good coach for a season so he can get a better offer at a bigger school.

Louis Holmes was a 3 and 4 star recruit while we were recruiting him, until . . . Pete Carroll offered, then he was a 5 star.
Immediately prior to the Stoops termination I was looking at our commit list and we had 19 commits, two 4 star and 17 3 stars. As of now we have 24 signees of which, 1 is a 4 star, 14 are 3 star and 9 are 2 star. Who here wants Stoops and his recruits back instead of what we have?

As a Oregon fan, I can say I fully expect to see Rodriguez take your program to a level it hasnt seen since Dennis Northcutt was playing WR. Ill be the first to admit that I dont know a whole lot about AZ football history, but other than a couple years ago, that seemed to have been your pinnacle? I might be saying something different if you guys ended up beating us in double OT a couple years ago. You guys were soooo close to becoming an elite program in the Pac10.
You guys can draw a lot of parallels from Oregon as far as the type of recruits that you will begin to recruit. The speed guys are ALWAYS underrated because they usually lack size. While guys like DeAnthony helped us tremendously last year, everyone forgets LaMike was a 3* recruit and Barner was a 3* recruited to play DB. RichRod has proven he can do more with less given the complete backing from his administration, which he didn't get at Michigan. Trust this guy...he has a proven track record recruiting the right guys for his system. While stars always look good on signing day, guys that work in his system wont always carry those high ratings. its guys like Bryan Harper that will get you there(I really wanted that guy, GREAT get).
I originally came over to your board today just because you are one of three Pac12 teams on the 247 network and starting reading this post. I want you guys to remember that we've had tremendous success in Oregon recruiting those under the radar guys and you guys will too, I just know it. While Oregon does have the advantage of facilities and Phil Knight, you guys have something we will never have and will always hold us back -- LOCATION. You guys are located in a primo spot and that is such a big thing when it comes to getting these kids to come and Oregon continually fights year after year.
So I guess what I'm saying is hang in there. Have faith that RichRod is one of the great minds in college football, and while it may start slow next year, hang in there because success won't be far away. In college football its the coach that is 10 times more important than any recruiting class. The coach brings success and success brings recruits.
Best of luck in 2012 and beyond.
