Nothing slow about the pace at first spring practice.

Tempo, tempo, tempo. I love it. Look at all the great offensive programs around the country and under the skin you'll learn that they all practice at breakneck speed. This is a wonderful change from the previous regime. Great reporting and analysis Brad.

See, this is why I read other sites but I only comment on this one. Do you think the guys over at Rivals know who Dave Mustaine is? I think Not, rock on, Brad
A Rose Bowl before I die Please!!!!
I remember when Randy Walker arrived at Northwestern. In his first year he sort of stunned the big ten with his version of Paul Westhead football. I think he called it basketball on grass at the time and I think he would have built a long term contender at Northwestern but for his premature passing. Going to be fun.
I think it is good that the second and third teams are getting more reps. This should help with quality depth and future years.
Everyone getting reps, everyone is on the same page and game ready for when their number is called. This enables them to be ready to contribute in a game instead or riding pine.
Thanks for the update Brad. I'm looking forward to seeing the new uptempo Cats! And King of Daleks, I agree - this is the site to go for all things UA IMO. Keep up the great work guys!
Time to nut up or shut up
They have a drill where the first team runs a play then sprints 20 yards. Before they are 10 yards
Downfield the second team is already lining up, then the third. They did this for 5-10 min and each unit probably ran 2 plays a minute, maybe more.
King I can keep the metal references flowing if people like them.
I have some slight history with this offense and defense....believe me, we will be a full-third faster by the season opener.
This tempo can be like facing a machine-gun.
Keep the metal comin Brad
i wonder if some of the team wouldnt mind switching out Snoop for some Overkill :)
I think Holy Wars is good, but "wake up dead" should be considered.
so glad the team is practicing with intensity.
I cant imagine how slow we practiced offense last year. yuck!
Hopefully the tempo comes to resemble the beat of a Slayer song.
Rodriguez's next move is working to give Arizona's field a new name. Not formally, but informally like "The Jungle" or "The Mosh Pit" or something the team refers to internally to get ready and tear the opponent a part.
"The Kill Zone"
I love that name I would buy a zona shirt with that on it.
The "kill box" maybe the only other thing but just off of kill zone.
With all the stuff with the Saints right now, I'd stay away from anything with the word kill in it.
Hilarious. Plus, I think "Kill Box" is a military term and that probably wouldn't go over well. I was thinking in more generic terms like in basketball with "The Pit" at New Mexico or "The Phog" at Kansas.
I would tie it in to "Heat"
Gary, how about the "Hot Box". Gotta love those frat days!!!
Another name i thought of is "The Boneyard" Not only could it be a fun thing to play on but also could be a good tie in with Davis Monthan!
Nicknames tend to take care of themselves. I've seen some programs try to nickname themselves and have it fall flat. "Purple Reign" was a flash in the pan.
"Desert Swarm" was born of performance, as it should have been. Some tried forcing "Air-Zona" into existence, and it never quite made it.....plus it was a lousy nickname.
If we start winning every home game and people absolutely hate to play in Arizona Stadium, then we can start thinking of a nickname.
First we play...then we earn a title of "Wildcat".......then we can start naming things.
