I have been covering recruiting full time since 1999, and part time since about 96 and have never seen this many recruits, this early.

First of all, congrats to all the new recruits on becoming a Wildcats! Really exciting to see this type of movement early in the recruiting season.

So I believe this brings us up to 22 counters towards our 25? I'm not trying to be a downer here but it's worth brushing off NCAA Bylaw 15.5.6.1. We are technically allowed up to 28 NLI.

It looks like we have commits from a ton of secondary and linebackers (although don't know about true safety), qb's and rb's (2), 3 wr's. I'm hoping we can fill out both lines. In the 3-3-5, is the front line suppose to be 1 nose tackle and 2 de's? In this defense, isn't the nose tackle suppose to be in the 300 lbs plus range? And are de's the 240 lbs variety or the monster 270 lbs plus ones. Either way, these bigger line men available in this recruiting class don't seem to be interested in coming to AZ.

With 3 DL's the NT doesn't have to be massive, he just has to be able to tie up two gaps and hold position. The DE's well usually be around 260+ but its more about composition. They should be strong but relatively athletic. Look for us to try and turn HS DE's into DT's..

I think thus defense is more about penetration and shooting gaps. If so, DL's ate going to love playing in this defense. Look for a ton of pre snap movement and blitzing. Kinda like TCU's defense, and what the Redskins use.

This class is becoming pretty impressive; better than we could have expected, and much earlier than expected. It's true that the staff can work harder on season prep once this class is buttoned, but they will be back out on the road talking to the juniors and sophs they have already shaken hands with.
This is big-time style.
