  • Not much of a conspiracy theorist, but how the heck did that much happen to that many for that long without anyone ever blowing the whistle?

I am not doubting the victims, I'm not in any way suggesting that this guy shouldn't fry - I am simply baffled that anyone would and could do this and not get caught.

  • The sad truth is he was caught by McQuerry who reported to Paterno turned it over to the ADD and the VP who both burried it and Joe PA did nothing further so as to protect the football program for several years. Meanwhile more boys were abused while Curley and Schultz and Paterno burried iit. Victims came forward and a grand jjury investtigated ajnd Joe finally told the trutth and Curley and Schultz lied to the grand jury therefore Sandusky, Schultz and Currley were indicted and Joe Paterno was named as an unindicted co conspirator because he did not lie to the prosecutors and grand jury. I truly believe Penn State should recieve a five yeaar death penalty in football.

  • McQuerry has some fault here as well. He should have stepped in and stopped
this sick crime while it was occurring.

Agreed. If I walked in on that, I would have been looking at 5-10 for assault.

  • "The eighth accuser to testify told jurors the abuse began with fondling and forced oral sex and led to several instances of rape in the basement of Sandusky's Centre County home, where he spent more than 100 nights and where his muffled screams went unanswered by Sandusky's wife, Dottie, who was upstairs. He said he figured the basement must be soundproof."

"He got real aggressive and just forced me into it," said the young man, now 18 and a recent high school graduate. "And I just went with it -- there was no fighting against it."

"He said under cross-examination by Sandusky lawyer Joe Amendola that the attacks sometimes left him bleeding but that he never sought medical attention."

"I just dealt with it," he said."

    .
BTW, it's really not Sandusky's fault. The poor man may be suffering from a personality disorder. Everyone needs to be more sympathetic and more understanding:

Let me put it this way if it was my child he raped and they were sympathetic and let him off great because I would get him and u would never find the body. This guy is a sick twisted human being that does not deserve sympathy and if guilty should be locked in a hole for the rest of his rotten little life. I don't mind supporting people with down syndrome or other mental diseases because they are out there but that is not an excuse to rape children. He knew what he was doing and so did the school. Penny St makes me sick covering it up instead of fryinylg his but years ago. How many more kids were victims because they are the only victims did he hurt because they ignored it.

  • Again, I ask; how is that this kid went over to Uncle Jerry's ONE HUNDRED DAMN TIMES?!!! Seriously, did his parents make him go or did he just voluntarily say "hey Mom, going over to Jerry's for some sodomy"? 100 times!? How hard is it just to NOT go?

"My husband has young boys over all the time. They go down to the basement. I don't really know what they do". Seriously? I can't look at the damn Victoria's Secret catalog without my wife or daughter catching me! This is like Senator Barney Frank. He either knowingly ran a male prostitution ring out of his basement or had no idea what going on in his own house - either way it should disqualify him from being a senator. I'd prosecute his wife too. She's either complicit in the crimes or failed to know what was happening in her own house - which, when its repeated activity that harms people, should be a crime.

    Unbelievable.

Tonight, one of the parents of the abused replied when asked how she felt about winning the case, "We've all lost."

  • I could care less about Jerry or his wife Dottie or Joe Paterno or Penn State University which ignored this since 1998. I only care aobut the victims both those who came forward with such great courage and those who are too injured by him to ever come forward, Being forced to use their real names to testify is unreal. thanks fully it loooks like the media protected their identities. I hope Spanier, Curley and Schultz all go to prison and Penn State gets the Death Penalty. I also hope tom Corbett is run out of office for not prosecuting this case before. The infractions by Penn State are them most hideous in college sports history.

Up vote. I was watching Sandusky's lawyer after the decision and he was disgraceful. At one point when addressing a question about "appealing" the case, the attorney started to talk about how there are thousands of "innocent people sitting in jail cells across the country" to which the crowd on hand began to boo and jeer.

Jim makes a good point in that the real struggle for Penn State is just beginning as it will soon move to a civil trial and unfortunately it won't just be Penn State feeling the crush, but the state taxpayers as well since it's a state school.

Up vote Jim, a terrible ordeal for the victims and hopefully one just starting for Sandusky. One of the most inhuman stories possible. I also think his adopted son willsoontake him to court or at least the DA ON NEW CHARGES.

No doubt that Penn State is complicit.. however I really don't think this has anything to do with college sports. These are crimes committed by an individual and an institution protected him.

But what exactly did the football program or athletic department do as an organization that was wrong? If the AD and college president covered this up, blame should not fall on players and other coaches.
