OMG..their mascot is a damn Bruin....just leave the damn cop behind please
Where are they strong?
18 in efficiency
18 in 3 pt fg %
15 assists per game
3 in effective fg %
7 in true shooting %
5 in steals per game
7 in steal %
Where are they weak?
238 in ft attempts
261 rebound %
191 turnover %
235 block %
122 fouls per game
Based on those stats alone, I would say they score, assist, and steal the ball very, very well. They turn it over a lot and don't rebound well or block shots.
I think we play them tough on the 3 D...and we out rebound them with huge numbers.
They had 22 TOs versus VCU. I think Arizona's press would crush them...don't be shocked if you see it deployed early. I say you rush them and utilize your depth wear them out at altitude.
The thing is VCU is in your face almost all game long. A press by Arizona multiple times in a half would be a huge surprise to everyone. Still, if Arizona can play with the type of defensive tenacity they have shown lately, I don't give Belmont much of a chance.
Time to nut up or shut up
Yes, VCU is one of the best, if not the best teams in turning opponents over this season. Belmont and Arizona have a big size disparity as the Bruins don't really have anyone taller than 6'7-6'8 while Arizona could have a rotation with three 6'10 guys on the floor at once. This is the beauty of the NCAA Tournament where teams have to fight all kinds of adversity, including an opponent that they know very little about and having to get educated very quickly.

Belmont seems to me to be like us last year. Perry was 6'7 and our "big" where their bigs are abotu the same size. One of the things that does concern me though is Zeus has had issues with smaller quicker bigs this year. But he has been playing great lately so maybe he has turned the corner and it will not be as big of issue as it was earlier in the year.
Wait did Miller get banned for a game or just fined? Press early, utilize depth to wear an opponent out... who are you thinking is going to coach us, Lute Olson?
"Arizona has no tradition" - Bill Walsh
"We have a tradition of kicking Bill Walsh's ass" - Teddy Bruschi
This Cleveland Plain Dealer item points that Belmont may have gotten ".....one of the luckiest draws for a second-round matchup when they landed a pairing with the Arizona Wildcats, who don’t defend the three well at all."
"Many believe this season's high-octane squad -- led by senior guards Ian Clark and Kerron Johnson -- has the ingredients to be an office-pool menace. Will it happen or will this Nashville-based school continue to sing the one-and-done blues?"
This preview has Belmont by three..."Belmont's long-range shooting could be a decisive factor against Arizona, which ranked last in the Pac-12 in 3-point field goal defense."
