The Big10 got some good seeds into the mix with Indiana, Ohio St, MSU, Michigan and Wisconsin all above 5 seeds. Throw in Illinois and MN for good measure, and you have quite the representation of the conference.
What do you all think - are they over rated, or did they do about right?
Overrated! So is the Big 12. Dumb that Oklahoma got in and Minnesota got in but Virginia did not. Also think the Mountain West is underrated despite their number 1 RPI. Another conference that is overrated is the Atlantic 10. PAC 12 is underrated in my opinion too.
love Chuck, his call on us over Duke in 2011 was awesome and spot on!
Barkely is the only analyst that knows what he's talking about an isn't biased at all. he says it how it is.
I was going to say, I wouldn't dismiss anything the round mound of rebound says. During TNT's first go round with NCAA Tournament coverage, the TNT analysts absolutely blew away the competition at CBS in breaking down games, predicting winners for that days games, and on and on.

I think the UCLA-MN game may tell all. If #5 Big 10 can beat #2 PAC-12 then they probably deserve their status.
The strength of the PAC, IMO is from the ground up. The bottom of the Big 10 is usually atrocious (in football, too). We seem more consistent from top to bottom, just not as stellar at the top.
Michigan state played 7 ranked teams.... IN ONE MONTH (from Feb 6th to Mar 7th)!!! They played 12 ranked teams including UConn and Kansas OOC. They are 25-8.
I don't think the Big 10 is over rated. Iowa won 21 games and didn't even make the tourney. No other conference has this many really good teams. I don't think it's stretch to think that Indiana, Michigan State & Ohio State are all final four picks from the ESPN guys and I don't think it's stretch to think Michigan or Minnesota can make deep runs.

there's this thing about playing ranked teams. if your conference is over ranked, that tends to happen. when you can lose 8 games in conference and barely be out of the rankings. that's not saying you're good. it's saying your conference get biased votes
Not sure I get your point Steve as we lost 7 conference game and are barely in the rankings at 21.
Anyway, I think it will be interesting to see how this plays out. I tend to think that they are over rated, but then again, I have a PAC 12 bias.
My one observation is if that if the total score is 120 points between two Big Ten teams...
Take the under.
And that is being generous. I've thought they have been overrated for awhile now.
I agree. They play tought against each other......but they are Great Pretender...Barkley the all knowledgeable knows all.
Not a good standard...ucla without Adams will hurt
Steve's point is that if the conference is overrated to begin with and you lose a half dozen games or so in conference then you do not drop at all... your RPI might even go up if it is a close loss... They just say how tough the league is...
In our case if you lose 6 P12 games you drop a ton since they think the league was weak to begin with... It is a self perpetuating situation...
Only the Tourney will tell which league was over rated and which was under valued.... I think the P112 was much better than we got credit for...

Ummm, Oregon beat them....
Funny but UCLA clearly won the PAC 12 with 1 less loss in conference than the 3 teams tied for 2nd.
