24 points on pure hustle and court awareness by Aaron Gordon. Played exactly as WSR advertised. Very solid performance.

He looked very good. One low light was going for a between the legs dunk and he got stuffed by the rim! OUCH
Just saw the last 5 mins of the Micky D game....
So I ask all of you why did we waste a schollie on AG... He cant play a lick...

BEAR DOWN boys... The best is yet to come....
Much much better than I thought he was. You can't usually take much away from an all-star game but you can take away that AG rises to the occasion. Kid is legit and thrives on the big stage.
Watched game and he was very impressive. Not only did he score but he tried on defense as well. As you said Gary, he hustled a lot and got into positions to score.
I will also say one of the most impressive things I saw was when Rondae created a 10 second backcourt violation on his own. After the great defensive pressure Jalen Rose said he just played more defense in one possession than I played in 15 years of basketball.
Also, another great line came from Jay Williams when talking about Arizona with Aaron Gordon saying that unless Ed Rush brings Arizona down they should win the Pac-12.
I agree and know everybody is going to talk about Gordon but Hollis- Jefferson had a quiet good game. Defensive intensity he will be huge probably coming of the bench but that guy can play both ends and is not a guy needing the camera focused on him. He picked up the guards in the back court and harrassed them all the way down the court he is a three. Two players thathave the talent to be a factor next year.
Yes, regarding Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. We discussed prior to and after his commit to Arizona, but if you polled 10 college coaches last summer as to which recruit competed the hardest all spring and summer 9 out of 10 would have said Hollis-Jefferson. The crazy thing is Gordon played with that same level of intensity and passion for the game.
Each of these guys are going to push Ashley, Jerrett, Tarczewski, Chol and Korcheck to the max next year. If everyone rises to the occasion and starts meeting the many challenges this front line is going to be special at Arizona.
If Sean implemented a full court press next year Arizona would absolutely smother teams. They are so long and athletic across the board. Once they turn you over it will be a circus act bound for SC top 10!
Good call. Personally, what I'm anticipating right now is more full court man pressure that morphs into a trap as the ball handler approaches mid court. I definitely expect Arizona to man trap more in the half court set. Teams that put the ball in the corner baseline next season will be screwed. I also think Arizona will hedge and trap the high screens next season rather than just hedging and/or switching. The reason is Ashley, Jerrett, Gordon and Hollis-Jefferson, maybe Parrom and probably Chol are all quick enough to identify and recover to their man if the trap off the on-ball screen is broken.
Ya I was just worried everybody would be look at Gordon and his offensive output which it was impressive to see him handle the ball better than some of the top tier guards. The only guy that really stopped him when he was going to the basket was Hollis-Jefferson. I am looking forward to have Ashley, Jerrett, Zeus, Chol, Jefferson, and Gordon will make us 3-5 very versatile. I will say Kentucky might have the most players on that court but I think we got two of the best only other one I would have really liked was Wiggins who looks like he could be a truly dominating talent.
Here is what I see Gordon bringing to the Wildcats, and I think it will be infectious to the rest of the front court players.
He will bring an athletic/aggression (can I trademark the phrase?) that will transform the team. Right now, I think he is ahead of all our bigs in that regard. If Zeus can pick up on that, Arizona will be killer.
We'll see how it pans out. I know he will be a freshman, but there is something different about him and there won't be the steep learning curve that there was with the current three freshmen.
Next year, our second team may be the best competition Arizona has.
So, my prediction is that once Arizona gets up on a team, there won't be a let down, and they will have the killer instinct that puts teams away, sometimes in humiliating fashion. And this will be done to teams that were in games and beat Arizona this year, i.e., Oregon, Colorado, UCLA, and anyone else.
Perfect statement. Based on the recruiting the past two years including next year's incoming class the competition at practce should be the hardest thing these kids face.
The only thing we will lack next year is a guy with big game experience who knows what it feels like to be counted on to be Mr. Clutch. But as the kids face each other in practice, the competition in those sessions is sure to develop a couple of guys who everyone will look to.
We are well on our way to establishing a powerhouse again in Tucson.
Saw the whole game last night. This guy is everything Gary has been telling us he is. I can understand talking about him in the same conversation as Jason Kidd. Did you guys catch Jalon Rose and Jason William's comments about Rushgate?
The comments where awesome, Gordon was awesome and Rondae was awesome. I love the latest wildcats!
Just watched the game. What I liked about AG....Flash Gordon..was he was in almost every play. I saw him directing other players, which was futile as no one wanted to run an offensive set. Most impressed with that he has a great court sense. Every time someone got set to shot...he started toward to basket anticipating a rebound.
And he fronts his player really well..great Defensive awareness.
Just wish he knew how to dunk :))
The comments on Rushgate were great, I agree. I just wish Rose and Williams spent more time talking about the actual game. Too many, "back when i played" moments....
Time to nut up or shut up
Love the enthusiasm for new guy. I have to temper it with the realization, he can't shoot.
9-10 on dunks
1-7 everything else.

He hasn't had to. He's been playing the power forward and center positions in high school for the last four years. He'll be fine once he starts getting in the thousands of shots he'll be taking between now and next October. This is why Arizona was always a great choice for Gordon. No one ever pretended he was a sharp shooter, or even a consistent shooter outside of 15 feet, but the potential is clearly there. At Arizona, he won't have the pressure of being the primary scorer along the front line night in and night out as a freshman, which will ironically pave the way for him to potentially lead Arizona in scoring occasionally from a stream of transition points, hustle points, and simply being in the right place at the right time for the easy assist and score.
I'm not sure he actually took any jump shots....his misses came on put backs and attempts close to the basket in heavy traffic. For you to say he cant shoot based off that one game doesn't really make sense because he didn't really shoot in the game. He did however make 4 of 6 FT's so that's promising.

He drilled a three as a timeout was being called;-) His release looks good so that tells me he has a chance.
two things at rhe 325 mark 2nd half..he did a great asst pass...the guy lost it..AG ran after it ..it was just pure hustle
Also..they say he is 171/2. better check that out Im sure he is at least 22...:)) He wknt be 22 until the fourth quarter of the assu bb game
You being negative again P???
One thing he said was that he working hard on his mid range jump shot and said It is coming along fine
Yes, he did drain a trey that did not count, but he shot right at the whistle with a defender on him so it wasn't like a free shot or anything. He was still playing "live" at that point.
Nope just trying to temper expectations.
