If he is, cats 2014 are a final four team....if not then we will struggle....
I wonder though at this point we just know he was a very good mid major point guard?
I know that Miller as was a good mid major coach who has not adjusted to the big time and cannot beat a good team when it matters. No reason to think McConnell is any different.
Next year, when we lose to ten teams we shouldn't everyone will make the excuse that its a rebuilding year. But hopefully the year after that when we get blasted by Colorado, Oregon and UCLA YET AGAIN, we can start talking about Millers replacement.
"Arizona has no tradition" - Bill Walsh
"We have a tradition of kicking Bill Walsh's ass" - Teddy Bruschi
I don't know if we'll know until games are played next season, even though reports say he was awesome in practice.
I will say you shouldn't call the Atlantic 10 conference a mid major conference. That conference to me is above that level. TJ left that team and they went 8-22 this season and 1-15 in conference. His stats were pretty good in both his freshmen and sophomore years and he had a lot less talent around him then he will have here at Arizona.
The big question for me going into the offseason is where is the scoring going to come from? Lyons was a scorer, and Soloman made things happen as well. When I see next season I see TJ as the guy who is going to get more motion into the offense and get the ball to open guys. We know Grant can shoot, and I believe Brandon and Kaleb will improve as scorers as well. What we are going to need is the outside scorer. I'm hopeful that Nick will improve again next year with his outside shooting, and I'm also hoping Gabe will get more time next season as he could really thrive with a true point guard who can drive and kick it out to him for the three ball. I'm fairly confident that we'll find scoring, and that's not even considering the incoming freshmen.
From what I hear TJ isn't as quick as Lyons, but he has a higher basketball IQ and shouldn't make as many questionable descisions like Lyons did at times.
Elite 8, win over Duke, PAc-12 regular season title, Sweet 16, most wins in the Pac-12 over the past four years. Yeah, he sucks.

Maybe next year he can make up for the Bucknell loss. At this rate he needs a national championship. We either have the most over rated recruiting class in history or the worst coaching in history. Kentucky won a national championship with a similar class. Where the fuck were these guys when USC was shooting 61%? Where was Miller when the officials stole the OSU game from us? Where was our senior leadership against UCLA, THREE FUCKING TIMES?!!
Yea... until he rights the ship, he DOES suck. He missed the tourney last year (unforgivable), can't retain players and can't fucking beat anyone who's good. Most of the time he can't beat anyone who's not good. USC, Ohio State, FUCK!
Good point cats in CO! We need to beat this dead horse until we get a different coach. I promise not to let you down.
My hopes for TJ is that he doesn't play 1-5 and jacking up half court threes. I am glad for the runs in the tourney but we better not miss the tourney next year or I might get pushed over into wkland and self loathing.
Wineknow: Just when you get back to four stars, you are perilously close to going back to three star status with that kind of take.
The only gripe I had about tonights game is in the second half: we semed to rely too much on the three when we could have taken two in the paint. We had a great season - can't wait to beat the scummies in Tempe in November!!
In MIller I Trust!
"This is a blue-collar type of program, and the front of the helmet says it all...“Hard Edge”...” – Coach Rod Smith
you are crazy to trust in Miller. We will continue to lose the PAC12 and go nowhere in the tourney as long as he is coach.
Did you happen to see the USC game this year? How about any one of the UCLA games? How about the Bucknell game last year? That is and forever will remain unforgivable.
He's a shitty coach. Change your offense, moron. FGCU has a better offense than we do. Change your defense, moron. Izzo, Boheim, Pitino.. they do all the time and they are still alive in the tourney... go figure.
I'm ready for Pastner. Miller has failed.
Hahahahaha Boeheim hasn't changed his defense in 40 years. Pitino rarely switches.
Cats have finished 4th, 1st, 4th and 2nd in the Pac-12. Miller has taken UA to 2nd weekend in two tourneys and lost by a total of 5 points.
Yes, the USC and ASU games sucked, Olson lost to $#!tty teams too. Bucknell? Rather lose to them in the NIT than NCAA (Kansas). Pissed at the time, but could give a rat's @$$ about the NIT now.
Olson let Arizona slip to a fringe top-35 program, Miller has it back to a top-15-20 program and knocking on the door to the top-10.
Miller has failed? That is silly. You can't recover from what he was left and re-build it that quickly.
What has Pastner done? Taken a program that was one-shot from a national championship and cannot get them out of the first weekend.
Why do I keep having this conversation? I will never convince you...
Boheim runs a 2-3 zone defense that switches to a M2M and a match up zone when he sees or understands the need.
Olson never had this many seniors and this level of recruiting class and a tournament loss to a team as not good as Ohio State and no PAC championship and no pac tournament championship.
4th the first year. ok
1st the second year - well thats great but there is no sustaining power
4th last year.... WTF!??!!
2cnd this year, even though we did not beat Oregon or UCLA.
No meaningful win since December. You don't care to recall Bucknell because you'd have to admit how bad the program and coach are to lose to Bucknell and that would spoil your faith in the team. But in two years after no more championships and more sweet 16 losses to very average, over rated teams you guys can al post the 'Wineknow was right' stuff just like with Mackovic and Stoops. Sooner or later Miller has to actually win a game that matters.
No Boheim has run the same match-up zone for 40 years.
And Olson never lost with seniors? 1990, 1991, 1992, 1995, 1999
Those teams had NBA seniors like Mills, Rooks, Damon, Ben Davis and Jason Terry.
Hate on Miller all you want. I am done defending. We are in year four of what was a massive rebuilding project. Miller has turned Arizona around faster than similar jobs at Michigan and Indiana.
1998 also was a disappointment after the championship the year before with some of the best players to go through zona. Dickerson was underrated Simon Terry and Bobby.
Why bother guys, he is beyond reason.
I am waiting to post anything that King of the DS's has posted on, because I can't figure out how to do it without calling him names.
Calipari took the #2 rated class in the country to a first round loss in the NIT.
Miller took the # 3 rated class to a last second Sweet 16 loss. In what you have called a very poorly officiated game.
In 9 years as a HC:
Miller - 6 tourneys, 1 NIT, 4 Sweet 16's, 2 Elite 8's
Knight - 1 tourney, 5 NIT, 1 CCAT, 1 Final 4
Rat Face - 1 tourney, 2 NIT
Olson - 4 tourneys, 1 Final 4 - 1st 9 as Div 1 coach did not look at LBCC years
Smith - 3 tourneys, 1 NIT (9th yr), 3 Final 4's
Pitino - 1 tourney, 2 NIT, 1 Final 4
Boeheim - 7 tourneys, 2 NIT, 4 Sweet 16s
Calipari - 5 tourneys, 3 NIT, 3 Sweet 16, 1 Elite 8, 1 Final 4 (vacated for cheating)
Williams - 8 tourneys, 5 Sweet 16s, 2 Elite 8s, 1 Final 4 - all at Kansas the winningest program in history
Self - 4 tourneys, 1 NIT, 3 Sweet 16s, 1 Elite 8
Howland - 3 tourneys, 2 NIT, 2 Sweet 16
Matta - 7 tourneys, 1 NIT, 2 Sweet 16, 2 Elite 8, 1 Final 4
Donovan - 5 tourneys, 1 NIT, 2 Sweet 16, 1 Elite 8, 1 Final 4
Calhoun - 1 tourney
Brown - 7 tourneys, 4 Sweet 16, 3 Elite 8, 3 Final 4, 1 Title - 1 final 4 vacated
These are some of the best coaches of all time or currently and none are significantly better than Miller's first 9 years. Williams has 1 more post season appearance, 2 NCAAs, 1 Sweet 16 and has a Final 4; Matta has 1 more NCAA and a Final 4, but 2 fewer Sweet 16s; Donovan has fewer tourneys but does have a Final 4 and Brown has 1 more tourney, 1 Elite 8, 3 Final 4s and the lone title.
Calling for Miller to be replaced shows complete ignorance of the history of college basketball and the greatest coaches in the game.

He will play more controlled. Something lacking badly with Lyons. From what I hear he is a SK...without the 3 points shooting. Certainly..we are expecting a Final 4 appearance.
This post is perfect. Well said.

Is TJ the real deal?
