If this were a professional league, I'd propose a straight up trade for Mark Lyons. For every point Lyon's scores on offense (alone) he makes two or three defensive mistakes that cost us 3 or 4 points. It's ridiculous.
Add Chambers, a true frosh, to our roster and we are the undisputed national Champions.
He makes virtually no mistakes and makes every single teammate on the floor better. Lyons makes every single team mate on the floor worse (by omission).
I predict that Lyons will score 18 against Harvard, have 1 assist, 3 turnovers and ten stupid plays that cost us 2 points each. Effectively a -4 or -6 point effort.
Chambers will only score 6, have 1 turnover and 8 assists. Roughly a +20 performance.

Wow, that means Lyons was responsible for all of Belmont's points tonight with 3 x 23 = 69. The official scorer must have missed five points.
Somebody needs to tell Miller!

In chat tonight, we noted that Lyons made a good play and scored, then turned it over and then let his man blow by him. Net -2. That was within a minute of game time.
BTW, CatsinCo, I have said very little about the ineptness of Lyons this season, so I am not beating a dead horse. If I had said 'Why did Miller leave him in so long?" then you could have used that icon accurately. Please, stop beating a dead horse.
wow! i just noticed you are down to 3 stars WK...
Impeccable timing. I'll take 23 points on 52% shooting and only two turnovers any day of the week and twice on Thursdays and Saturdays for the next two weekends.
Arizona did have about a 7-minute second half stretch where the team struggled to defend the on-ball screens and yes, Lyons played a key role in that. However, the help rotation was really bad as well, but I've been told in the past two hours the coaching staff, up 20 with less than 10 minutes remaining, was more concerned with not giving up 3-Pointers and less concerned with giving up scores inside the paint. That makes sense.
The good news about playing Harvard instead of New Mexico is the Crimson is a smaller team, much like Belmont. Hence, if Lyons are any Wildcat guard is struggling defensively, we can move the struggling defender to a weaker offensive player, get Nick Johnson on the hot guard, and not risk really bad mismatches.

yes, just another misunderstood genius....
I'm the guy at Jonestown that didn't drink the Cool-Aide, the programmer at Reed College who saw a different path, The Cardinal in Bremen who alerted the world to concentration camps in 1939, The guy who noted that a football coach who was inept did not deserve any respect when he cried on TV and the same guy who noted that losing twice to New Mexico portended worse things...
But people don't get it. They are wrapped up in their cliche, trite, brain dead belief systems about how deviating from man to man defense for one second is only for pussies and full court presses have no place in basketball. That recruiting a top 10 (5 or 3 or whatever that moving target is now) recruiting class does not allow one to hold a coach responsible for the teams performance, and losing to Colorado, USC or Oregon is perfectly acceptable.
Miller is a slightly above average coach at a school that used have an elite level coach. Get used to it because until he leaves for a lessor job, we're stuck with him. Very tight wins against nobodies and blow out loses against anyone good. He failed to make the tourney last year, he failed to win the conference this year. He got some great help from Harvard tonight and will likely advance but do any of you seriously have us beating OSU? And you call me crazy.
WOW just WOW
So with that logic calipari should be gone. There is this thing called common sense!! Looks like it is not too common with some people.

Or Roy Williams with his dud of a season in 2009-10 @ UNC.
I agree there are huge issues with Lyons and I too crave a pure point guard. This was just not the right game to call Lyons out. Arguably his best game since December.
To your second point, Lute was a HoF coach but we forget that his teams struggled to. The Cats went 17-1 in conference four times and went 12-6 or worse seven times. He won 75% of his Pac-12 games, an average of about 13-14 wins a year.
Miller has won 67% of his Pac-12 games, averaging 12 wins in confernce. Lute better? Sure. But Miller is just nine years into his head coaching career.
In the postseason, Miller is now 10-5 (66%) in NCAA Tournament games. He's won 2 out of 3. Through 9 years Lute was 4-3. Lute was 42-26 in the NCAA Tourney, 61%.
While Miller has a LONG way to go to be Lute Olson, he has proved he gets his teams prepared for the NCAA tournament. I'll take an extra loss to Colorado or Oregon, if it means Sweet 16 or better.

WK, maybe you should have cut out that last bottle of wine last night. You were doing so well up until this post. Then you go and vomit all over yourself. This may be a new low for you, but I am glad you think so highly of yourself. Sorry that mommy and daddy didn't give you enough hugs when you were a boy.
Bumpity bump bump bump!!!!
Mark Lyons is your daddy!
WK... Lyons schooled your boy today... a man against a boy... Try to give him a little respect...
BEAR DOWN boys... The best is yet to come....
Is this Wineknow guy even a REAL UofA fan??
He just thinks if you don't win every game the coach is garbage and should be fired.
I doled out 7, count em 7 different up votes in this thread. Unfortunately wineknow did not receive any of them.
