Miller said in his presser that the Wildcats were not supposed to double team Craft. Jerrett and Nick should have either switched, or Jerrett should have flashed on Craft and run back to Ross.
That being said, had they switched, you'd have had either Craft on Jerrett and likely getting to the hoop or Ross shooting over a player five inches shorter.

The way things were going in the second half Ohio St was getting to the basket at will. Had Grant not been there, it looked like Craft had a good shot to drive past Nick and I'm sure a foul would have been called even if he missed the shot. Like you said, if they switched then Craft would probably have blown past Grant. We were just a step slow on defense in the second half and were getting beat off the dribble quite a bit.
I know I'm not a high level basketball coach, but I'm sick of letting teams run down the shot clock and then running the high ball screen and clearing out the other players. Why are coaches ok with just sitting back on D and letting it happen? I wish Nick would have just jumped out on Craft once the ball got over the half court line and pressured him into making a play and not letting them set up their game winning play. The defense seems to always let the offense dictate what's happening instead of being aggressive and forcing the offense into doing something they might not want to do. Thoughts?
totally agree...I too am sick of it...
How about some pressure and make them panic and possibly a turnover with an easy game winning bucket?
I agree. I thought the defense was actually pretty good on the last possession because of the threat of getting into the lane. Johnson cut that off, which gave Craft the option of passing to Ross. But the problem was caused by the pick and roll which was a soft pick.
It was just a pretty good offensive play, based on how Iowa State was beaten by Craft. The shot made by Ross was a long one -- had to be at least 24 feet. It turned out to be a good look, but that is what it took to beat AZ.
Anyway, I too would have like some frenzied pressure. It's almost like it's a mano a mano ego thing -- just try and score on us.
It was really well done.
As much as it pains me to admit.
I'm sure we will revisit this as top ten dagger plays.
Again...agree..dumb to let them come up and score...miller lost this game for us.
It was an NBA three. The thing should have clanked off the rim by any percentage of probability.
And I really like my Cats in overtime.
