I'm not going to complain about refs, it's a tough game to call and there were tough calls that went against both teams.
It was a couple of little things that cost us this game. We got a good lead towards the end of the first half and didn't really put the hammer down. We've done that a few times this year where we just can't put teams away. At the start of the second half we just looked slow and stagnant on both ends of the court. It's another thing that's plagued us at times this season is slow second half starts and not a lot of good adjustments.
We were getting beat off the dribble on defense quite a bit on the second half and just couldn't contain them. On offense, I thought we got very stagnant and didn't move and create motion like we needed to. To me it became more of a one on one type NBA game and they were better than us. The game winner came because it looked like we chose not to get beat on the drive and Grant made sure Craft wouldn't beat us. Great shot by their guy to win it.
I think we played fairly well, and just lost to a better team tonight. I don't know if we just got tight in the second half, but we couldn't hit threes and then some guys just seemed afraid to shoot it. I feel bad for Kevin Parrom, who just didn't have a great night to end his Wildcat career, that's sad. Soloman was a warrior and kept us in the game, he can carry his head high. As far as Lyons, he was what he was all season. He made some clutch shots, great drives, but also forced some things at times and made a few bad decisions. Utimately he played very well in the tournament and I wish him the best success as he moves on.
The future is bright. I think the young guys will really break out next season, and I'm excited about the guys who will be joining the team. A lot of ups and downs to our season, but in the end there were more ups than downs and it's always a great ride being a Wildcat basketball fan.
Cattyshack, I agree. Good post.
Where as it will probably haunt some of us that we were "this close" to the FF.
It was a good run and the future is bright.
Horrible post. Plain and simple. The better team lost. We are taller, more athletic and better than OSU. Call after fucking call went their way. The Fucking jump ball call on Hill was ridiculous.
Bt the fact us that we dod not burry them when we had the chance. We have not beaten a good team since december. Miller cannot coach. Olson wins that game by 20.

"Arizona has no tradition" - Bill Walsh
"We have a tradition of kicking Bill Walsh's ass" - Teddy Bruschi
Wineknow in official and total rant mode.
Stay of the posts that see the bigger picture.
Couldn't resist could you.
Wineknow is offline to either finish his dissertation for all of us to read about, or he actually is doing what I'm trying not to do.
Punch a wall.
The fact of the matter is that we took a total team chemistry Cluster from last year to the Sweet Sixteen this year and proved a lot of points along the way.
There will be multiple comments to come from this game and I emphasize with most. It is still good to have perspective and see the better things to come.
We will get our crack at the FF in the very short-term future. It's Inevitable.

Bigger picture... oh yea. Arizona has not won a meaningful game since Miller has been here. No AZ coach has ever done less with more (alleged) talent.
Either tone down the recruiting hype or start wining some fucking games. Especially against a team that is simply not very good like OSU.
I bet Aaron Gordon sucks ass playing for Miller. Maybe Arizona is where Elite recruits come to lose.
wow you may be the biggest sore loser fan ive ever seen. i just came over to congratulate you all on a nice season and playoff run. but your name seems to be very fitting, because you sure like to cry a lot.
OP very well put. i agree with your assessment of the game
wine - you may want to become a michigan or michigan state fan becasue you sound just like one of them
everyone else congrats again sorry it had to end the way it did, i know the pain but your teams future is bright
I am a very sore loser. But honestly, do you think OSU is even remotely as good as Arizona?
With decent officiating or a better coach we'd win that game by 20.
I am probably one of the biggest homers I am so pissed about going into half falling apart and there were no adjustments to what was not working. Lyons needed to not play 1-5 basketball. What happened is all I want to know they wanted it the first part of the first half? Why didn't we fix it? We were better at all positions they made adjustments and we just sat with our thumbs up our butts.
There would be a line of teams waiting to hire Miller. In fact, be careful what you wish for.
Did they make adjustments against Hill? Correct. When you are a team full of offensive weapons you go to the next one. Sometimes it was Lyons, sometimes it was NJ, sometimes it was Parrom, and hell, even Jerrett tried his hand at the wide-open three (which we know is not a bad choice).
I'm of the firm opinion that Miller's coaching style had very little to do with our downfall. This had more to do with the pace of the game (ie, OSU natural ball-control style) and the refs that bought into the second-half pace of the game and should have swallowed their whistle a little more.
But thems the breaks right? Wasn't it a famous coach who said you needed to be lucky to reach the FF?

honestly this is the only game ive watched arizona play this year so i cant really make a great judgement call, so my opinion wouldnt be of the most value here. that being said, if tonight was an accurate measure of your team then i say yes i believe ohio state is the better team. they won the game and as for officiating, it has been terrible everywhere all year. ohio state had its fair share of bad calls against them as well.
i just dont like to ever use officiating as an excuse though
so that being said as for who is the better team... yes id say ohio state. maybe not by a wide margin, but the experience coaching, defense, and general clutchness of the team i believe gives them the edge which i think was demonstrated tonight.
that being said though once again this is the only game of arizonas that i watched this year so i may be inaccurate.
props guys. try not to dwell on this game like i know i would
It was a tough game, some bad calls both ways...It strikes me as funny that you write off OSU as a "bad" team, seeing as how they have 4 straight sweet 16's, (longest active streak), have had a very good program since Matta has been coach. You can believe you should have won, very normal for any fan in a game like that, but to say Arizona is head and shoulders better than OSU is a bit short sided. 20+ wins a year for 10 years straight isn't the sign of a bad team.
good news is, maybe we'll meet again next year as our whole team (other than Ravenel) is back.
And Wineknow, it didn't seem like you thought you were THAT much better than OSU in your prediction...
rdot said it best:
Arizona - Saturday in Los Angeles
Ohio State - Saturday in Columbus
If it were possible to win by 1/2 a point, I'd say we'd beat them by 1/2 a point. Gonna be a great game.
And it WAS a great game.

I'm not a rumor mill guy.
But I think Craft's draft status might heat up now.
94th on the last NBA projection list I looked at.
Edit: And Deshaun Thomas at 32 could be doing the same.
Craft will be back. He is a 3.9GPA Pre Med student, head on his shoulders. Don't think he "sees" himself in the NBA honestly. he can't shoot well enough and his drives to the hoop in the NBA would get sent back. Not saying he wouldn't give it a try if he gets drafted, but I believe he's 100% going to get his degree first and foremost.
There was a story on him on our site, he doesn't hang out with the guys, doesn't go out at all, in his room studying. He's getting the most out of his free education. Smart kid..
I'm actually hoping DT goes to the NBA, as he and Ross basically play the same position and I'd rather have Ross next year, he will, in the end, be the best NBA prospect on this roster.
Long shot at best on Craft.
However, I would think that NBA teams would be intrigued based on ability, and more importantly, hype.
Get the right agent talking to the right team and I think the $$$ will ultimately triumph. If there are losses from the "supporting cast", term I will use loosely regarding Thomas, and the stars align perfectly with a deep run or NC.
I wouldn't write off the possibility. That is all I'm saying. One of the curses of being a successful team in the NCAA tournament is that your players tend to get hijacked at the next level.
It's probably best not to post too early after a loss like this.
First, you do have to give credit to Coach Matta and OSU for going to the FF for 4 straight years. Once IS, but 4 in a row ISN'T a fluke.
Second, you have to give credit to OSU for coming back strong at the end of the first half and for 10 minutes of the second half. Teams get hot, go on runs, it happens. You'd like to be able to stop those runs, but good teams make their breaks and OSU is a good team.
Third, you definitely have to give credit to Arizona for getting back into the game with a chance to win it, and definitely have to give credit to Lyons for hitting a clutch layup to tie.
The last play -- well you have to give credit for hitting the shot. It was no gimmie. The defense was solid and Craft disguised it well enough to create just enough space.
Truth is, Arizona played a great game and OSU was one shot better tonight.
Better team vs. worse team Arizona vs. OSU
we were better in the first half and they were better in the second and came down to a last second shot...dead even...
Either team could have gone to the Elite 8 and honestly either team could make a run to the finals if they get hot...
Just wasn't in the cards for the cats...
Craft could catch on as a bench guy in the NBA, but can't see any way he'd leave early.

I spent the past two weeks pretty much defending the big10 and telling everyone here that they were NOT over rated. Well, you were. After the first 1/2 it was pretty clear that we were significantly better. We then started sleep walking. I thought you guys were going to be way better than you were and I'm not trying to be disrespectful - obviously you were better than us, although it is largely inexplicable WTF happened to us in the second 1/2. Good job to OSU, our staff and players failed epicly - we should have won that game by 20 and we were on pace to do just that.
