Matt Korcheck wants to redshirt, but he will still be counted on.

Yep, any size to help Solomon Hill bang and toughen up these young bigs is a great thing. I'm sure many will agree with me when I say as "tough" as Arizona competed last year, the guys weren't "tough enough" when it came to going balls out for rebounds and refusing to give up driving lanes to the basket and letting guys finish at the rim.

I expect Miller to give the entire team free reign to contest shots and be really physical, not having to worry about foul trouble since there will be so many fouls to go around this season.

  • Hansen's column today had sme interesting information about Solomon Hill.

He looks totally different than at the end of the season, either losing a lot of weight or redistributed. The end result is that he looks leaner and his shot is remade as well, more fluid and athletic.

Hill playing the three at a faster pace with a better shot is an exciting prospect.

I'm sure there will be a learning curve with so many new faces this coming year, but the August trip to the Bahamas, with all those extra practices will certainly help.

The addition of Lyons changes everything about this team. If 2 of the three bigs pan out, and if Parrom can heal totally, this will be a tough club with lots of competition for pt. Miler's public comments about Mayes, I'm sure are intended to reassure that he will get a lot of time.

Some analysts are slowly but surely starting to speculate or predict Lyons actually being a detriment to Arizona's team chemistry. However, they are saying if Lyons fits in then Arizona is a legit Final Four contender.

As for Hill, we started to see him "lean out" through the course of last season. In fact, when I say him face to face at both USC/UCLA and then later at the Pac-12 Tournament he appeared noticeably leaner.

Arizona will need Hill's toughness at the PF spot IMO, but I think he'll be more versatile this year as we witnessed from him during the second half of league play last season. A lot more squaring up his defender from the perimeter and attacking the basket. If he jump shot does evolve (I'll believe it when I see it against live D1 competition, this his dribble drive will be made even more dangerous because defenders will have to play him honest in space).

  • Miller says the plan is for Solo to play exclusively at SF...of course that was plan last year.

  • Ah, the nattering nabobs of negativity.

So some experts think Lyons will be a detriment? And some people think Obamas long form birth certificate is legitimate too.

The point is what Miller thinks, what Lyons thinks, and what his new teammates think.

I say he adds a bunch of points, Hill plays SF, a healthy KP plays some SG, and Arizona goes big, small and everything in between and wins the PAC 12.

The nattering nabob of negativity in me is compelled to ask WHO is suggesting Final Four? I note that last year when Turner and the 2 Johnson's were only going to get us to the final four (same 'analysts') but we were to expect a Championship this coming year....

I mentioned this a few weeks ago and people ran for the hills - claiming Sidiki was actually just a long term project, that everyone knew Nick couldn't shoot and Turner wasn't actually ranked all that high. I find is curious that nationally it was a top twenty class no matter who you cite and the same people who then said it was under rated and should be the #1 class are now saying it was ranked too high and that they knew all along it wasn't that good and no one ever thought Miller could possibly get to the tournament in his first 14 years - that's just Wineknow's unreasonable expectations.

I'm gonna save this 'final four' post so that next year when 2 of the recruits don't even show up and the best ones who do are total busts and our point guard is a head case and Romar beats us three times (like usual) and UCLA commits an NCAA record umber of turnovers and still beats us, and ASU beats us at home to knock us out of the tournament because Miller won't run a zone defense for a minute to change the flow of the game, I'm going to note that Gary cited sources who thought we were Final Four material.

I'm just hoping we can survive the first round of the NIT next year... THAT would be real progress.

    Final Four. LMAO. headslaproflmao
