Yep, completely nuts. 247 has York as the nation's #35 player. Huge disparity between us and some of our competitors. Time will tell who's right.

  • Great athleticism and it also shows that no one in high school is taught one thing about defense.

The kid is good, but it looked like he was playing against the Washington Capitals of HS or AAU.

  • It sure did MTN.....still impessive...but will it transform to the next level. Sure hope so.

  • Let me get this straight.

Our new guard (assuming he doesn't pull a Sidiki) can dunk against 14 and 15 year olds. Good for him.

WTF does that have to do with anything? In a video that lasts several minutes there is ONE pass and lots of chest thumping and showboating...what a punk.

I can't wait to see Miller start him over Mayes, who will then realize his mistake in early March when York has 7 assists for the entire season and has failed his fourth drug test.

Where will Gabe transfer to? Iona will need a PG at that point...

  • Now this is a completely asinine comment even for you WK. Way to criticize a high school kid that hasn't even set foot on our campus yet just because you have a vendetta against his future coach. You deserve a three game suspension for this rudeness and foolishness.

The vendetta is against all of the idiots who over-hype high school players. It has little to do with York - any player that saturated in media coverage is likely going to fail to live up to expectations with any fan base (see: Shakur, Turner, Sidiki....)

    . . . Chris Rodgers.

You kind of forgot him. He was the most highly rated of any player in his class for us, as well as 2 classes before and after.

Have a vendetta against YOURSELF for your inssessant, unending rants of approval for the highest rated, lowest talent recruit of the Olson era.

I'll see your Shakur, Turner and Sidiki and I'll raise you an Anthony Davis, Mike Bibby and Carmelo Anthony. I could do this all day. In every sport there are players that don't meet FANATICS expectations. Media and fans have way too high of expectations on players of sports b/c they want to live vicariously thru the athlete and when they fail the FANATICS feel miserable about themselves so they want to lash out at the player that did not meet their expecations. It's a sad state of affairs really. Some players live up to the hype and others don't, it's just the way it is and as fans we should be a little more mature and be able to handle the disappointment better.

A punk??? Name calling??? Pretty low level conversation for a wine lover or anyone else for that matter! If you have read any of Gary's articles, you know he is not a PUNK

  • To be honest York is the only one I am super worried about I like he is not afraid of the ball but in the game I saw on ESPN he never saw a shot he did not like. I am kind of worried he will come in and be like Marcus Williams and think he is the next big thing in basketball. I hope he steps up and plays well though.

  • Actually the same thing I think about Shabazz I don't see Howland changing a selfish player as he has not done so with Smith and that guy who's name escapes me the punched people. UCLA will flop and Howland will be fired.

If York had hit 50% of his shots that game you would not have had a problem with it. He happened to have had an off game when you saw him play so it appeared he was a ball hog but he took mostly good shots he just couldn't hit that day. It's unfortunate that fans place any emphasis on bad play during these post season all star type games. They are playing with players they are not used to and are not running any sort of offensive sets or plays and it's basically just glorified pick up games. So what if he or 'Bazz had off games, they are just trying to make the games exciting and if they hit their percentages that they hit during their high school games then everyone on her would be singing their praises, but instead fans take those games and think they have any sort of reality base to them and they just don't.
