  • Hey WK, while I enjoy your posts as they are always entertaining, you are still having difficulty with your adjectives. In particular Owns and Impatient. I still can't give you owns as an accurate analysis of the Miller/Romar relationship. Miller will not go 0-3 next year v. Romar. Romar is going to lose both Wroten and Ross to the draft this year. If we still had DW and Momo, players Miller recruited, we absolutely crush UW this year. To be fair, you need to give Miller another 3 years in this debate. If you do, I am still willing to make that bet with you that Miller has a winning record v. Romar after 6 full seasons.

Anyway, I will take a losing record to UW and go to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 every year versus having Romar as our coach, winning the PAC 12 Tourney ever year and exiting the Dance in round 1 or 2 every year.

Finally calling you impatient is like calling Tucson a little warm in August. Bro you need to smell the roses now and again.biggrin

points taken. Seems to me we are too willing to just give up and accept that UW has the better team, coach, etc...this year was supposed to be different and it wasn't. DWill was 2-3 against the huskies, so if the freshmen coming in are lottery pick level talent, we still won't beat them based on past history.

  • Cal fans are saying the same thing about Monty and how he can't beat Miller.

UW does not have the best coach, I don't think anyone has said that, to the contrary, everyone has talked about Romar doing less with more. he is definitely not the better coach.

    My opinion!

Couldn't have said it better myself. Up vote.

I give Romar a lot of credit. However, his style, while it works is also the very reason why Washington can't win big games in the NCAA Tournament. UW basically plays an aggressive brand of basketball that relies on grabbing, pushing, shoving, checking, leaning, chest bumping, reaching and on and on. The officials can't call every foul against Washington, but they should.

All you have to do is watch back the UW/UA game from this weekend. Every time Fogg put the ball on the floor he was either grabbed off balance or pushed off balance which was just enough to allow the help defense to rotate at him before getting off a shot.

It's a style of play Romar adopted from day one with Nate Robinson and it hasn't stopped. I don't blame him. Other schools employ this tactic, notably any team coached by Bob Huggins.

The reason why Romar can't win the big games is precisely becuase of what gary said. in the pac10/12, he is getting away with murder out there. In the NCAA Tourney, they have the best officials working the games.
One thing no one has mentioned is that we have a really bad travel team pretty much every season. do you think that WSU or UW prepared for ASU at all? I bet that they studied UofA all week, and UW rested "DURING" the ASU game. This happens to us every year except while James Harden was at ASU. WSU may be bad, but they look amazing compared to ASU. And WK keeps saying we don't have a big... well, we do, but he sucks. I think the major recruiting problem was not Millers 1st season, but his 2nd season. all we got was Mayes and Perry out of that class. He needed to get 1 more big, but wasn't able to get one. he more than has made op for that next year, because we legitimately have 3 chances with big guys next year. 7Ft Zues, 6'10" Jerrett, and 6'9" Ashley. all we need is one to be ready to play next year, and 2 to be servicable with Chol more than likely making a huge skill jump next season. I'd take next years team over what anyone else in tha pac12 has
    S-SHill
    S-KParrom
    J-Mayes
    So-Turner
    So-Johnson
    So-Chol
    Fr-Tarc
    Fr-Jarrett
    Fr-Ashley
    Fr-York
I left Knat out cause he probably won't be back next year.
That's 3 upperclassmen, 3 sophmores who see good minutes as freshmen, and 4 stud freshman, who if 2 are as good as advertized, we should have a deep, deep experienced team like we haven't had since 05.

  • Romar's kids don't show up every game. They have some really bad losses every year especially on the road, but they always show up to play us and perform at their highest level-because we are Arizona and it is still a big deal to beat Arizona.

Yes, great - we can all see what the line up will be like. But Romar will come up with some 5'6" guy no one else recruited (Nate Robinson comes to mind) who drops 36 on the wildcats and UW will be beat us at Mckale. Then we'll go up to Washington and by then some other freshmen will have emerged as the clear cut favorite for FOY in the PAC-12. Jason Terry will be wearing his jersey and we'll lose in double overtime.

Then we'll get beat by them again for the PAC-12 tournament championship next year but we'll both go to the tournament. Romar and UW will struggle against Eastern Idaho Polytechnic but win in the final minute and then lose to Texas State Corpus Christi. We'll blow two teams out by 20, then play a squeeker against a #1 seed like Kansas and Miller will totally out coach someone like Izzo or Boheim or Roy Williams and we'll be in the final four. NO MATTER what happens 2013 will still be remembered as the year WASHINGTON won the PAC-12 championship and beat the Wildcats, YET AGAIN, three times in one season.

  • Not a chance WK. I personally guarantee that we will not go 0-3 v. UW next year. Matter of fact, I bet we only play them twice next year because they won't make it to the Pac 12 tourney champ game next year. I bet we are 4-2 or 5-1 against them over the next three years finally putting to rest this ridiculous notion that Romar owns Miller.

  • All great thoughtful posts. Romar owns us...that is a fact....only because he beat us. How the hell do you classify "OWN"? I can think of no other way. they beat us, simple as that. That being said, yes we went further in the tourneys as did UW. We did better. But we didn't beat UW. Miller has done more with his talent. Romar has had some great talent no doubt, but he falters in the NCAA's.
Next year we will be at least 2 - 0. Maybe 3 if we play in the tourney? I'm happy the way we are going.
However, KNAT won't waste a scholie next year will he? I mean, come on there is no hope for this kid in BB. he may go to Europe and be a bench warmer and play for maybe 5 - 6 min per game max. Please send him packing.
