How Are Your Pre Season Predictions Holding Up?

  • I had Arizona with 3 OOC losses, going 10-3 and 3 losses in the PAC 12.

There is just a razor's edge between that result and what actually happened, and I believe with Kevin Parrom healthy for the remainder of the season I would have been closer.

That said, what his team has accomplished, and what Miller has done with this team is amazing. They are undersized, have players totally out of position, and are down to a rotation of 7.

They should have swept UCLA and came within a whisker of beating Washington at home. They almost beat Florida @ Florida.

OK, it's not vintage Arizona, but the teamwork is great, and the defense has been pretty good.

I would be so happy for them to do the unlikely, win the PAC 12 tourney.

  • Essentially I am right on track except for my leading scorer.

    PEB13
    Final Season Record:25-11
    Pac 12 Tourney:2-1
    NCAA Tourney: 1-1
    Leading Scorer: Nick Johnson
    Scoring Average: 13.9 PPG

    PEB13

  • I am killing it, except for Fogg's big push has moved him past Hill

    Final Season Record: 25-11

    Pac 12 Tourney: 2-1

    NCAA Tourney: 1-1

    Leading Scorer: Solomon Hill
    Scoring Average: 12.7 PPG

  • I'm off by 3. Arizona should be 24-6 right now per my predictions.

I had Arizona finishing 14-4 in the Pac-12 so that's not bad.

I have us going 2-1 in conference tournament (said 3-1 originally but didn't account for the first round bye). Also, going 3-1 in the Big Dance (that's not going to happen).

  • 14-4. I would call that close.

    Mrzipityduda

  • Other then the conference record pretty much being spot on, I'm far from perfect on my predictions. AZ already has the 9 losses I called so that prediction is shot. I [unfairly] expected more from Nick Johnson this year. In the end though, I'm still not too far off on my guesses.

    =================================================================

    Final season record: 28-9 (13-5 P12)

    Pac 12 Tourney: 2-1

    NCAA Tourney: 2-1

    Leading Scorer: Nick Johnson

    Scoring Avg: 14.6 PPG

  • I'm most likely out of it at this point...and that is a good thing.

    Final Season Record: 22 - 14

    Pac Twelve Tourney: 2-1

    NCAA Tourney: 1-1

    Leading Scorer: Nick Johnson

    Scoring average: 15.7

Cat's 7 and 1 resurgence in the month of February put them back on the fast track. Awesome job as it was looking early like my predictions were coming true but w/o the NCAA bid (or NJ as leading scorer). This is one contest I'm happy to lose.

  • I guess I'm no Nostradamus!

    Originally I said:

So, looks like I'm off by one game in the non-con, since we finished 9-4 and I'll be one game off in the Pac-12 season since we're going to finish 13-5. Hopefully we're able to finish 4-2 or better! I know I had figured on a little bit of production out of Sidiki Johnson in my original win totals... so obviously that hasn't happened. I also thougth JT2 was gonna come in and have a freshman season like Tony Wroten. Totally wrong on that one as well. 28-9 would be awesome. However, we'll finish where we finish and we'll look to the future for brighter days.

Also... I had NJ as our leading scorer with 13.5 PPG. Not gonna happen. But Fogg's recent scoring surge has definitely been a welcomed surprise!

  • Ashton: You suck!

Ha ha, how did you expect Arizona to even make the tourney with only 19 regular season wins?

  • I'm on track win wise, but Mayes isn't going to be the leading scorer.

    Final Season Record: 27-12

    Pac 12 Tourney: 2-1

    NCAA Tourney: 1-1

    Leading Scorer: Mayes

    Scoring Average: 14 PPG

    u

    Lol at both of you.

I said we would squeak in the tourney, mainly due to strong showing at the Pac 12 tourney to get us to 21. If you re-read my pre-season prediction post, there was some real Nostradamus moments. What really blew it up was that our conference was so bad and I did not see that coming.

But, yeah, 19 wins wont get you far...

    Ashton

  • locoA healthy Parrom was worth at least three more wins for Arizona. Taking his injuries into consideration, I think we all have done a pretty good job in predicting Arizona's season. Except for Ashton that is. 14 losses? Really?

Ha ha it's all in good fun, but WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ASHTON?

Anyway prophecy is not his strong suit, but if you want someone to help you watch a pirated u of a loss on the Internet, just call him.

    BlkMtn

  • I predicted that at this point we'd be 21-9 and 12-5 in the PAC followed by a victory over ASU to push us to 22-9 and 13-5. I also said Fogg would lead us in scoring at 13.2 per game and that he'd avg a double double for his last 4-6 games. I also said we'd lose an OT thriller at Florida and get blown out by Gonzaga. bow

LOL...we will then go on to win first two games in pac tourney and lose in the title game. And then make it to the sweet 16 before we lose! Damn, I'm so good you can call me nostradamus!!! :)

Man, I'm getting grilled in this thread...lol

@BlkMtn - What happens in the chatroom...stays in the chatroom. I just provide a cut-and-paste service of various comments posted on the ESPN game discussion thread.

@Gary - Et tu Brute? May as well as have Brad come by to drive the knife in a little further.

I mean, it's not like we haven't been to the NCAA tourney before with less than 20 wins.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona_Wildcats_men%27s_basketball#Arizona_yearly_records

I figured a 19-12 regular season and additional 2 wins in the Pac 12 tourney would get us over the hump...in a strong conference.

All in good fun. Oh yeah, and look for me to mop the floor with you all with my Nostradamus-like NCAA tourney predictions. lol

Too funny Ashton. Speaking of NCAA tourney - it would be nice (albeit very tough) to have some sort of Tourney Challenge here on 247 for giggles. I was on a nice 3 year office pool winning streak up until last year when I scored the fewest points and won the prestigious "Rubber Chicken Award" here which MUST be displayed in losers office for the whole year. I need to get back on that winning track and get this ugly ass rubber chicken plaque out of my office!

    lol

Well, I'm definitely the proud owner of that award this year.

I imagine Zip will put something together on Yahoo. I usually get rambunctious and post up my ESPN bracket link at some point. If WSR wanted to sanction an "official bracket" via one of the big three services (ESPN, CBS Sports, or Yahoo), I would play along.

    I enjoy a good gentlemen trash-talking session.
