Miller has high expectations for next year!

  • A quote from the Star "McConnell said he also enjoyed getting to know the Wildcat players, and raved about both the talent on hand and the talent coming in. Arizona now has a six-man recruiting class, including its four fall signees composing the consensus No. 1 fall class in the nation.
UA's high-level coaches and players, McConnell said, were what he was looking for. McConnell said he "loved" his Duquesne teammates and former Dukes coach Ron Everhart, who was fired last month, but wanted to play with a bigger program.
Miller made sure McConnell knew UA was that program.
"He was telling me we could possibly go on a Final Four run when I get eligible, and that we might even be able to do it next year," McConnell said.
McConnell will sit out next season under NCAA transfer rules and will have two seasons to play, starting in 2013-14. His addition, however, means the Wildcats are now one over their 12-man scholarship limit for next season.

  • However (comma)....... Let's not place too much stock in private discussion/recruiting talk between a prospective player and a recruiting coach.

Very true, Coach Miller has high expectations, as does every coach for the coming season; but it's a long way from kids arriving in August, through practices and unforseen events, through November and December as a team tries to come together, and then the really tough climb into the tourney.

I sure hope no one climbs on this comment as any kind of "prediction"....it AIN'T.

  • Robb, I agree but Miller does not seem like the type to go over the top.... Not too far anyway. I think it is reasonable though to think he is quite high on this recruiting class and does indeed think 2013-2014 will be a very good year. I was actually a little surprised to read this, next year is a push to think it but the following year.... Who knows?

  • Seriously though, this really isn't any different then what a lof of us have been saying. Sure expectations should be held in check (especially this early) but a Final 4 is possible with the talent level that CSM is pulling in. What's wrong with stating the obvious?

Btw - I also agree that CSM's statement isn't any type of prediction either.
