Tommy John surgery is the medial (inside of) elbow ligament reconstruction first done by Frank Jobe on Tommy John, of course quite successfully. Rotator cuff (not cup) surgery is a shoulder tendon repair and while common in older individuals is an unusual active pitcher surgery.
