Why Redshirt Korcheck

  • I keep reading that Korcheck wants to RS. Seems odd to me. This upcoming season ought to be the one with the biggest need for big men as the incoming guys are all freshmen and realistically only have Chol left over. Seems like playing time is for the taking.

Wait a year and these 3 freshmen are going to be much more solidified in their role.

Is he thinking that these 3 guys will all go pro or something. That won't happen and if it does we quickly get a rep as the place to go for bigs and we simply replace with more talented big freshmen....

Seems like Korcheck should play next year...don't know what sitting buys him or the team?????

  • Because he knows his game is still developing and he needs the time to develop. Itr was a condition of his coming here. Now if injuries dictate that he must play then he will play but that is not likely.

Seems like a greaat decision to me.

  • Read Gary's article.

He was brought in to be the 12th man in a 10 man rotation. He is here IN CASE more than 1 of the 4 bigs we'll have next year either go down to injury, transfer or become one and done, or (God forbid) catch Sidiki-itis if they drive through Tempe on the way to Tucson.

  • Jim's point is valid too. To think that a JC transfer is going to make an immediate impact is a stretch. Sure, Perry proved more than useful but Perry was also the POY in his region as a collegian. Like any other play, Korcheck was seeking a situation that would help him improve as a player and redshirting was something he was seeking for himself.

    Davison?

It's also the pac-12 we are talking about - and last year there wasn't a Pac-12 team that would have been a good match up for a good JUCO team.
