overall west of Mississippi recruits in JBC

  • 1)Shabazz.. shoots way too much and he's not a good shooter. seems to be a cherry picker. this will be good for UofA cause Ben Howland will tear this kid apart.
    2)IAustin... not impressive at all
    3) Zues. Our best recruit, hands down. Awesome rebounding and good post moves.
4)KAnderson. seems to be a really good shooter and soesn't make many mistakes. I think He'll do well in a slow BHowland ball system
5)Jerrett. great low post moves. watched him draw 2 fould on Noel
    16) Ashley. skilled defensively, but his offense is inconsistant, except, he has good court vision and made a lot of great passes and got some good assists. probably will do well at the end of his freshman season. Obviously skilled, otherwise he wouldn't be a 5star player and a HS NC

  • Unfortunately it seems as if everyone was listening to the announcers too much during the telecast as they kept harping on the fact that 'Bazz shoots too much and passes to little. If you are basing your analysis on an all-star game of 'Bazz then you are sorely off base. 'Bazz is a beast in a real game and does whatever it takes to win. He is one of the few highschoolers that go all out the entire time he is on the court. I watched Bennett and Ashley play a few times in the all-star games and they seemed to have sucked in most but then when you watch them on their teams they play extremely well. I wouldn't base anything you see in these all-star games as pertinent to how these players will play when it comes to actual games that matter. 'Bazz is going to make the Pac12 look silly this year if he is as good then as he was in actual highschool games. There are very few people that pass in these all-star games so don't be fooled by the comments made by the dipsticks announcing the games.

  • Very true regarding all star games. Unfortunately that's all 98% of fans have at their disposal when it comes to actually watching the athletes compete in games from start to finish.

I can attest to Shabazz's motor. He's got that very rare intangible in that he not only works hard, but takes every single game, all star or state title, incredibly seriously. Over the long haul, that intangible along with his obvious skills is the reason while he'll succeed in the NBA.

The knock on Ashley, and it's been discussed over and over, is he's yet to establish a mindset that enables him to dominate games. He CAN dominate games, and has throughout his 4 years in HS. However, it doesn't appear that he "believes" that yet and hence has some really mind boggling performances. The big challenge for Miller is convincing Ashley that he can be great.

maybe you're right. It was an allstar game, but I felt he's over rated. I guess the announcer have never watched him play either, that's why the main announcer is the head of ESPN recruiting and has him rated number 2 in the country.

DBERTW Has it right. SM is agreat player and will be very good....except maybe at ucla..Howland has to change alittle to play withing the framework of whjat Sm can do. Not the other way around. Ashley will be better then MJ by mid point in the seaasion
