  • There was also a great pullout in the printed edition of Sunday's Daily Star.

I put it in my box of memorabilia to enjoy when I'm rdotrbennett's age.

I hope you have a stainless steel vaccuum packed box or it will never make it.

I do believe that you and I are getting ready to enjoy one of the great eras in UA sports history.

P.S. Next time you announce a ballgame, please use larger letters in the print.

  • I believe Tom and I may be from the same era. Went ot first baseball game I rememberin 1956 and basketball 1951 and football 1952. The baseball game was Carl Thomas and his No Hitter aginst UCLA at hi Corbett Field.

This was long before there was a Sancet field theold field was where the Library is today.

I think you may have me by a few years. I graduated from Prescott in 1967. I'm a little embarrassed to say I grew up going to a game or two a year in Tempe starting when Charley Taylor and Tony Lorick were the top players. I didn't see a UofA game in person until 1966 when I was a senior and invited to see Larue in his last year. Mudra was the coach when I got to campus. Carl Cooper was also someone who had a strong influence on me.

I enjoy what you and RickyK write because you guys remember my time very well. Sports then and sports today are not similar but the evolution of both the game and the athletes who play is fascinating. Things were a lot simpler then and money wasn't in the way of everything. I think we had more fun.

    Hahaha.

All I can say is that next year, I refuse to wear the WSR polo in favor of my high-end business suit and UofA underwear as rally cap while announcing.

(tongue-and-cheek comment over the indefinite suspension of Daron Sutton, announcer for the D-Backs, for refusing to go along with team's dress code)
